Did not get an interview after an intro call at Uber for a strategy and ops associate, anyone know what I need to be able to showcase or any skills to develop in the near term to be able to transition into tech/industry.

Maybe it wasn’t a good fit, normally an intro call really doesn’t judge those things. It’s usually a basic do you have the exp/quals for the role

like

Your resume may have impressed the recruiter (intro call), but the hiring manager may not have wanted to proceed.

like

Totally get that, but the reason for my posting is are there any things on my resume that I can control, certs or other skills to help me standout your transition into strat and ops role in the industry

It’s a numbers game man. If you’re getting this hung up over one intro interview you’re doing it wrong. Unless you’ve always had some deep seated desire to work for Uber and only Uber. Things happen, some companies come through and others don’t. It can be unpredictable at any stage in the process.

So many times I've sat and pondered about how we did such a terrible job hiring someone who we wanted and who wanted us. Then some HR snag backs it up 3 weeks and they go elsewhere.

So frustrating on both ends.

What experience do you have?

2.5 + years in strategy and operations

What did they ask and what was your answer?

It was all just about my past project experience, looking back it it now I definitely could have used better projects to tie into the role they were looking to fill than the one I described to them. All part of the learning process I guess

I switched my company 3 months ago for a kind of similar role thinking I will have more exposure to technologies but as it is a product based company, I am supporting their own product only.

I am feeling directionless these days. Please guide me.
