Did not get promoted from Staff to Senior last year and this year the utilization is low because of a couple projects ending prematurely and difficulty in finding new projects even though-

The struggle is real. You get hired, nobody knows what to do with your behind. You get tossed here and there, but the client wants a round peg for their round hole. You're round and can fit through the hole, but you're not the right color. Next thing you know, you're sitting on the bench wasting valuable career time working on meaningless presentations.

OP - Start helping out with proposals, thought leadership and other similar initiatives. This will show leadership your knowledge and help you get staffed quicker. Last year I had 5 weeks on the bench due to circumstances out of my hand was not promoted, but was still ranked as a high performer and highest VC.

If the staffing lady is in your office suck up a bit. Ask her about the weekend, children, weather, etc. Always befriend IT, Admins and resource management, both at client site and at the office. These people know the ins and outs and can help in ways people don’t realize!

“Staffing lady”....😂😂😂 Pretty sure that is not his/her job title

I have been proactive in reaching out to my network and talking to my experience managers frequently. I have also kept the program director and my counselor in the loop consistently. I’m worried about my job. Please help

As a staff you are finding it difficult to get placed on projects?

EY1- I did find projects but as I said they ended prematurely and that hurt my utilization. January & Feb have been very sluggish as well which is evident from ACP Partner’s email to all the folks on the bench.

This struggle is seriously sooo real... how low is your utilization rate? Like below 50%? Can your counselor do something about it? What do your peers do? Are they all sitting around? Did you try to talk to the staffing lady to find out a project for you in other regions? And helping out on proposal is not totally useless

I ve been there in my first year and had no project for 3 MONTHS... but i m back on track now and doing pretty well i think. It was indeed really hard and i would even do no-brain tasks for the team to prove that i m not useless. There will be a silver lining soon 🍀 Be patient and proactive, you can do it

It’s below 50 :/

Isn't EY one of the firm's that lets people go if they're unstaffed for 30 days? If they haven't let you go by now, you probably got something really great going on. Keep trying!

what city OP? are you open to any type of engagement? i am a senior 1 TAP. first year was rough - was on the bench for 3 months but i have never been on the bench since my first project. my ACP effective util is >85% based on the GFIS report

McLean. Yes, open to any type of role

No p1, EY is not one of those firms wtf. Speaking from experience my staff 1 year was a bit rough after I rolled off a project that I hated.

Op - you in FSO?
