They match you for January through November. But since your contribution was zero, they match zero.

like

There’s also the reverse situation.... fully fund your 401k too early into the financial cycle and you’ll have to stop contributing, meaning no more employer match either

like

It's got to be based on contribution per pay period, not over the whole year. Over whole year would be in your best interest, which means it's not in their best interest, so, yeah, is not over whole year.

like

If I recall correctly, the match is done on a pay period basis. So you'll only be matched for the new money you put in for the second half of the year.

KPMG1 do you work at EY?

like

You get the match on money you put in.

So say 6 percent of my salary each month is 100 dollars. If I put in 900 dollars in Nov do I get the match on 900 dollars or 100 dollars?

So they match only once a year or each month?

Guys read the policy. They match you on the dollar amount, whenever you put it in. You are fully vested from day 1 AFAIK. Percent match increases after 4 yrs of service

That wasn't my question ey1. I didn't contribute first part of the year. If I put that money in now will I be matched on that now or no? Or only on the new amount ?

Haven't thought about it. I also have the question. In previous company they used to match end of the year based on your total contribution.

It's company by company, so any non-EY responses can be safely ignored. Deloitte matches annually.

Had my 401k in all VINIX last year, and it served me well. I rebalanced to 20% large cap, 20% mid cap, 20% small cap, 20% Int’l, and 20% bonds. The Int’l diversification is pulling me down significantly. Would you shift that 20% back to large cap or just say it will payoff later to diversify? My IRA is pretty yeah heavy, so trying to be mindful.
