Did you discuss salary/title before an offer was extended? What timeline from interview?

When I have my HR screen I always make it clear what I’m expecting and ask for the title they are intervening for. I don’t want to waste my time with low ball offers.

smart

I didn't discuss salary, but what title I was coming in at did come up during interviews. They were the ones that brought it up.

I'd bring it up. I didn't confirm title in my interviews and they brought me in a step down from senior (which I applied at). I did ask for senior pay and they gave it to me, not a penny less.

In a world of remote consulting work…. How long can the US maintain its high premium over European and, esp. developing market consulting? Both price tag to clients and significantly higher salaries for the people. I imagine may move faster at Big 4, etc. than MBB, but within MBB the huge cost and salary differentials feel… increasingly hard to maintain (even though I think the differential has actually gotten bigger, not smaller in the last two years). Thoughts?

Daddy D is throwing around some pretty crazy referral bonuses right now. If I can hit four referrals, I’ll split evenly among all four + myself. Up to $10k per person and at least $2.5k per person. Put it in escrow and everything. So if you’re looking to change firms, a new opportunity, etc. DM me. Can easily negotiate a nice sign on bonus, and my offer should sweeten the pot.

My firm was one of the firms that gave covid bonuses but did not specify whether everyone was getting it. I didn’t make my hours this year because I was on maternity leave and a bunch of my cases ended 1-2 months before I went out so I had lower hours before I started my leave. I couldn’t make up for those lost hours when I was back since I was working from home with an infant because of covid. I didn’t get the covid bonus, which in my mind is ironic considering the circumstances. (Cont.)

I just had an employee tell me they are on the verge of quitting due to burnout- actually going to quit but was told to talk to HR for options (we don't have any in place). The manager wants to keep them as they are one of our best employees. Any recommendations on how to help alleviate burnout when the cause is from customers rather than the company? Is it worth it to let the employee leave and spend months looking for a replacement causing more stress/burnout with others?

Is it really worth it to have investment properties in areas where property doesn't appreciate much but rental returns are pretty high? We spend a lot of time managing our property, which we rent through Airbnb. We get a 10% cap rate but then we lose half of that in taxes (my spouse and I are in a high income and tax bracket). I'm starting to think I should sell the property and just invest in something where we only have to pay long term capital gains of 20%. Am I thinking about this wrong?
