Did you have any kind of mentorship or guidance when you decided to go solo? Or just wing it?

I had a mentor I worked alongside with very closely before I passed the bar, and my experience with him made me feel comfortable enough to go solo. I still am in contact with him from time to time but not heavily.

It is def important to have a network of people you can connect with when questions arise. Check your local bar for resources too.

I had a mentor. He was actually a partner at the last firm I worked. He still serves as a continuing mentor.

Hi! Wanted to get thoughts from those who have exited to a startup from MBB/T2. Have an offer from a series C start up — would take ~$20k base cut but with bonus (annually) would make about 25k more TC plus RSUs. Much better WLB and great people. Is the base cut normal? Thoughts?

Without looking, I was recently offered a role at another company for about 30% more salary and 10x the amount of stock options, but I have only been at my current employer for less than a year and feel really guilty about leaving so soon into my tenure. My current employer might match salary, but there's no chance the options get matched.

I'm wondering if I should take the new position, even after less than a year at my company? I can't shake my guilt even though it seems like a no-brainer.

I am currently a Clinical Studies Coordinator and while it is a very rewarding position, I am looking to move into a new role. Honestly, I want to be my own boss. I know that comes with its own challenges but to me, it would be worth it. I have embarked on the journey of starting my own business and would like to put my energy into that full time. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to balance full time work in research and managing a business?

Hello fishes, I joined Nagarro on 24th of August. But still no project is assigned yet. Basically I am on bench. Now I am about to get an offer from ServiceNow. I really wanna join ServiceNow as it's a big product based organisation and the competition is really high compared to Nagarro. ServiceNow is giving me a joining date of 1st October. As I am still on bench, will I get released by Nagarro soon ? Because no project is allocated to me.

Thinking of starting my own estate planning and real estate closing law firm. I have some experience in both. My concern is getting clients once I open the doors. I graduated in 2018 and have worked in a few different jobs since then. I am located about 45 min outside of Boston. Anyone open their own firm and see success right of the bat? What did you do to start getting clients in the door?

Question re: salary. I’m thinking about accepting an offer at a small (4-6 attorneys) transactional firm. I would primarily be working on NDAs for clients. The role sounds great (no billable hours, fully remote, flexible hours/ can work from anywhere); however, the salary is $70K. I’m a new attorney, with only one year of experience. Does this salary seem low? If so, any advice on what someone in my position should ask for?
