Did you pursue a career in healthcare because that's what you wanted, or because that's what your family insisted would be the most stable and secure future for you so you did it to appease them?

I suppose you could say I did it due to family pressure. But I didn’t go into direct patient care. I got an administrative degree and work from the other side of healthcare.

Family had influence. But now, 19yrs in the field (including all the education years—and in different kinds/levels of work all healthcare-related, different countries), happy to say I still haven’t quit. Lol

My parents had light influence but as I got older and needed to find a stable industry to be in- I chose healthcare :)

I'm about to start training for pharm tech in NYC very soon, was it difficult to complete/land a job afterwards?

Family pressure convinced me it was the way to go. Now I have all the student loan debt

My family never pressured me but most of the women in my family were in the healthcare field so that had a influence on me to be “just like them”

I made the leap to "human" medicine from veterinary medicine after about 13 years. There just wasn't anywhere else i could go with the career in animal health at that time. After alot encouragement from friends ( that did the same) I was accepted into a great nursing program. I still love my animals though. It was funny to see how some similarities helped me learn the "human way" in school.

Hi friends - need a suggestion. My mother got critically ill due to Covid and has been in the hospital in India for over a month with added complications. Hospital charges are through the roof and it is a long road ahead of us. Are there financial aids, options available to explore to meet the expenses? We are salaried people and parents are retired. We are exploring loan options and wanted to check with this group for other creative ways to manage. Thanks a lot for the help!

Very close to receiving a job offer for a fast growin start-up company related to dental. It is located in SF which unfortunately is not Americas most expensive city to live in (I’d have to move there). Started pricing apartments and will need an offer of about $135k to qualify for housing but anything I find for a salary reference says the company plays about 95k in SF - how do I justify my experience and drive to the company to show my value or is that too big of a wage gap to bridge? TY!!

What is a responsible salary to ask for as a dietitian in the greater Seattle area? Most jobs are offering 70-75,000$ and although that is a good salary I can’t afford to live around Seattle if I accept that. Amerisourcebergen doesn't care about its employees. We have no mental health awareness. Leadership only promotes people who kiss ass the most qho have no managerial experience and pass people who actually have experience in a manager role. Leadership never helps you with anything. Hi I work in patient finance and I am desperately bored with my job. I have a bachelors which isn’t a requirement for my role. I have been applying non stop to jobs that do require a bachelors and I am qualified for. Either I don’t get called for an interview or when I do I’m not selected. I have followed up with some of the interviewers and they all told me I interview well. I am so tired of disappointment that I feel like giving up and just settling. I don’t know what to do.
