Didn’t even realize tomorrow was a holiday until all of my friends with normal people jobs and hours were talking about having off

After a month, I finally managed to secure a Dropbox apt. for end of this month. I am getting married in Nov and wanting to stay back in India with family for the month of Oct. Other than LOA options, what other requests can i explore that would allow me to work in India for few weeks in Oct before i take my PTO for the wedding. Any creative suggestions considering WFH is not allowed fir visa holders.

Does anyone else feel that there are just too many politics at their firm? Favoritism? For example, it came to my attention that two tax managers at my firm are on PTO. How does this make sense?

Need some vacation advice. I’m at an all-inclusive that was billed as “luxury”, but food and service are mediocre, the resort is run down, and we’ve had mult instances with other guests making drunken scenes. My wife and I have been doing the all-inclusive route for a while now and I think we’ve come to the conclusion that we need to just go to an expensive, pay as you go resort to get the food, service, and higher caliber of guests. Suggestions on such a place? Carribean preferred. Thanks.

I told myself I would not be that person who quits during busy season but I am reaching my limit with PA. My mental health has been in shambles for years and I have found the years passing by with me doing nothing but work. At what net worth (incl. of all liquid and non-liquid assets except the house you live in) do you feel secure of your future where you do not care about job security? Assume not much liability - house/car paid off, you already paid for kids education. So its just you and your spouse living normal (?) life. Is $4M a good target where with 5% return you get $200K per year which in my opinion is more than enough for 2 people? I know most people in this bowl already have more net worth already.

All inclusive resorts are a weird thing. Rich guests come from around the world to over indulge on food and drink for a week repeatedly while being waited on by a staff who will most likely never be able to afford that type of vacation.

Anyone here on L1 visa? How did you deal with your extension process. Did you go back to your home country or can I make a vacation out of it and go to a country that has a short waiting time?

I've been planning a vacation for my 5 year wedding anniversary and recently floated the dates I was looking to take off to my Principal and he responded that he's never seen anyone take 2 weeks unless it was for a wedding/honeymoon. Regardless, if thats true, given that precovid, he (who was a VP at the time) and my MD (who was a principal at the time) used to take 2 weeks every summer, is a 2 week vacation excessive in the PE space? I've been here 5 years and feel like I've earned it.
