My fortune cookies said a golden opportunity would fall into my lap this month, and them separately, to take advantage of an upcoming opportunity. (Yes I ate two. Don’t judge me.)

I genuinely love that! How ADORBS.

It’s your life and just remember that you’re always in control.

Iyou feel safe talking to your bosses, bring it up with them.

And It never hurts to apply and see what’s out there! Just don’t burn bridges or quit before securing that next job.

Never hurts to apply!

I got an offer from firm 1 before the memorial holiday and have been stalling because I am waiting for an offer from firm 2..
I was working with a partner from firm 2 who got me an interview with the managing partner.. I got a verbal offer last week.. the staff told me they are processing the paperwork.
Should I still wait for firm 2? I feel like I can’t stall anymore.. I feel like I really should give firm 1 a response this week 😮‍💨 but I don’t want to lose both offers

How do I ask for more vacation time? I’ve been at this firm 2 years and only get 10 vacation days a year. Days get increased in year 4 to 15 where they max out. I’m beyond burnt out because I don’t have the time I need to fully rehab my mental health. Any suggestions?

Always been a fan of FIRE and reading about it has definitely helped my finances but I can’t help but wonder if the movement is more about lifestyle change than early retirement.

After you achieve FI,you basically have to maintain the lifestyle that got you there.

What if you want to go on a lavish vacation or buy that flatscreen TV? Are you supposed to do away with material goods entirely? I suppose you could keep working for discretionary $ and live off interest but then you’re not retired.

This is so AWKWARD. We had our holiday party last night and everyone was drinking (open bar) a group of us went outside to grab cabs together and go home, everything was cool. Tell me why once I got in the cab I got a drunk call from my manager asking if he could get a cab to my place and if I would give him the address 🤦🏻‍♀️. I'm single and not mad that he finds me attractive, more worried that all my other coworkers heard him calling me while they waited with him!!

First year partner. I am trying to figure out holiday gifts for employees I really like and employees I don’t like so much but must get a gift anyway. Marketing, associates, secretaries, accounting, office services. Help.

I’m a new associate to a T&E group, partner goes away on vacation and leaves me with a 706 to review and sign. The family is very wealthy. Decedent married for 60 years. Partner says it’s “just a DSUE election, decedent was ill for years, no assets.” Provides no records. Not even an admission the decedent owned a toothbrush. So I looked up the decedent’s home - it’s a joint asset. Partner was “surprised”, and still insists “no other assets”. I found file references to art and antiques.

I have 2 offers to consider. What makes more sense?
Full time role with 3 weeks vacation and benefits or contract opportunity with 20k more in potential salary.

Little background, I have been a loyal employee and have only worked at 1 firm for about 6 years now. Looking for more growth and obviously money.

Need some suggestions on what to consider and any pitfalls that I should be aware of.

Thanks

I have been in health care for over 20 years. I started a new job last year and noticed that for various reasons, such as late submissions, the company will change my agreed-upon pay. So far they are close to 2000 less than if they paid the amount promised. Has anyone else experienced this? Is this legal? Is there someone who can help me out?

I quit. I was respectful. Thankfully, every person I have told has been so nice, and I wasn't immediately bounced out by my leadership (which has happened), but I have been surprised by my own bittersweet tears. If they actually cared, why didn't they say so sooner? I gave so much, and I was consumed by this organization. I invested in them, but my investment and dedication were not reciprocated, which is why I ever even entertained leaving. I don't know why it hurts, but it really, really does.
