You should get some limited coverage for free, unlikely you’ll need to pay for extra disability coverage beyond your H&W insurance, esp. if you’re healthy

As some one who’s on the left political spectrum, there are some things I just don’t understand

1) What is genuinely wrong with universal, free healthcare provided by a government entity ?

2) Why is there opposition to taxing the super rich at 70%?

3) Is it not clear that electoral campaigns sponsored by corporations are problematic for a democratic society ?

4) Everyone says “get an education” but that’s impossible with high costs. Why not make tuition free of charge ?

The PE culture is sick. The 20 something VP was rude to our partner because our team took thanksgiving and the day before off and it was in the engagement letter that we were gonna be off. He kept emphasizing that his team did our job while we were on a break. Dude we are not sick like you and we have lives. I see something about how s**t the PE culture is in every deal we support.

Like these sickos make fun of us for working 80+ hours weeks for them and taking thanksgiving off.

Anyone have an SO who is a healthcare worker? The two places where my bf works as an OT is having a Covid outbreak (despite all being vaccinated/boosted) and I can’t decide if I should hold off on hanging out with him. Same exact scenario as last year - last January he contracted Covid in between vaccinations and thankfully I made the decision not to spend time with him during the last outbreak as a precaution. Sucks. Can’t decide what to do. Already dealt w/ 2 quarantines b/c of his kid

I read that you can tax deduct medical expenses not covered by insurance (incl. IVF treatment, meds, acupuncture, etc.) for the amount that exceeds 7.5% of your gross income.

Do you know if you need to deplete your HSA funds first? Or can I just keep that as is for the future and tax deduct my IVF related medical expenses incurred this year on my upcoming return?

Thank you!

I’ve seen a couple posts lately with comments saying that people should not use a Roth 401k. Does the logic below capture the spirit of that concept?
1. Use trad. 401k to reduce taxable income now. Convert to trad. IRA once retired, then convert gradually to Roth IRA (ladder, SEPP, etc.) at lowest marginal tax rate
2. Use Roth IRA (and/or backdoor Roth) to take advantage of tax free growth and ability to withdraw principal early without penalty
