(Disregarding Covid) My partner found out he lost his passport for a trip we’re making up because his passport was expired. Trip is tomorrow. Would it be weird if I went by myself. I planned and paid for both trips, all in my name, etc..

Go by yourself. Unless your partner was struck by a natural disaster or major accident recently, losing his passport is his fault. He can pay for an expedited passport. He also still has time to turn his home upside down to find the passport.

I’m in Saint Lucia now. You do you. The flight and resort are safe. The last thing they want is a covid outbreak. They take precautions. I’m sure for you to go you probably had to get tested...I had to at a max of 7 days out and then quarantine. and I’ve never been asked so many questions about it from the moment I arrived...I was grilled. The amount of work that people have to put in to fly and go anywhere out of the country is safer than going to a stupid grocery store where you literally can’t trust anything or anyone. We live in a country where people are all about themselves. So...it’s time we do it too. Leave him and just go. I would... hahaha I’m sure you deserve it and need a mental break. 🤗

I too would love to simply disregard the pandemic we are currently facing

likefunnysmart

Will you be saying the same about people who are vaccinated before you? How would you know they’re vaccinated?

How do you plan to disregard an ongoing pandemic?

likefunnysmart

“Cause she’s fed up” A3 bringing up good points. On par with “disregard Covid”

Plot twist. His passport is fine but he doesn’t want to travel during a pandemic.

likefunnysmart

Plot twist: he made alternate plans with his side chick. Just kidding Op (but set up nanny camera just for security reasons)

funnylike

Short answer is yes. However damn you paid and planned yet he couldn't even make sure he had an up-to-date passport?

likefunny

You can still go together. Just disregard border control officers.

lmao your partner just saved his own ass from getting COVID

Right, because vacations are literally the only way you can get it. You are so wise and brilliant. You should run for president next time around. I d vote for ya

They can pay to have passport expedited. Worst case partner could push flight and join you a day late

like

How does one find out they lost their passport because it was expired? What does that even mean?

like

A3: not a security or digital security expert, I assume it is to do with both, and a matter of accessibility. All passport checks don’t happen in offices or airports. They happen in the middle of a desert crossing in Yemen or can happen in a forest in Indonesia where it might be difficult going digital?

What?

Folks, getting on a plane does not mean you will get COVID. Staying at a hotel or resort does not mean you will get COVID. Sitting on the beach all day does not mean you will get COVID. Eating outside at a nice restaurant does not mean you will get COVID. Now not wearing your mask or socially distancing your self in all of those scenarios means you have a much greater chance of getting it so be smart. Don't live by fear, live by the rules.

likeuplifting

Not sure if this is a hypothetical question. In a real scenario: you have multiple ways of getting replacement passports expedited, including directly at the airport. Usually no need to leave anyone at home.

like

Maybe your partner also thinks disregarding covid is a bad idea

like

Screw the people giving you a hard time about the pandemic. It’s a paid for trip so go. If he can figure out his passport situation then he can meet you and if not you can have fun on your own.

likefunny

Ah yes, callous disregard for society and the greater good — I can see how you made Director!

Your partner sounds like a fuck up. Maybe you should reevaluate this relationship.

I feel like you should take the hit this time: spending holiday time with family/SO is more important than money. The nice gesture would be for him to organize and pay the next trip, within their own financial capability (but you shouldn’t keep score). Still baffled on how one can let their passport expire though.

Yeeeaaahhh, I’m not going to ‘disregard COVID’ here. Neither of you should be traveling now.

I know this isn’t the same, but my bf missed flight to Japan, and I went as planned and he arrived 2 days later. Go explore, especially you already paid and planned, if he can get expedited passport, do that as well.

What practice areas (if any) would be a natural move for a mid-level commercial real estate/finance associate? I started trying to leave my firm in February and, at the time, was super in-demand. Now, with Covid, commercial real estate is slow & I think I'll be stuck where I am for at least another year if I don't make a practice area shift. Are there any other practice areas where my experience would be valuable?

Fish Friends, what are the foods and recipes that you've started adopting in the COVID world? I'll start with my super easy flatbread pizza, improvised due to laziness and a lack of yeast and baking materials available. 2 cups of flour and a half cup of water. Add a pinch of salt and a drizzle of olive oil and knead. Then you just roll it out as thin as possible and add whatever you want! Anything! Bacon? Onions? Peppers? Mozzarella? Chuck the whole thing in a 500F oven for like 18-22 min.
