I currently make $90k with a great wlb, support systems, and colleagues. Im also set to get promoted this January which will bring me to $108,000 (no bonuses). I got an offer from Slalom Consulting for $115,000 + 8% bonus and I don't know if I should take it. Any thoughts? Happy to provide more details in the comments

Oh they exist, but trust me once you get into one for long enough, you will get burnt out again. Financial freedom and early retirement is the only exit.
M1: my comment was in jest - a comparison with consulting where things change by hour and whenever the partner feels like
Salesforce, 40 hours/week or less always, 200k TC 8 yoe
Here for analyst roles in tech - TC 165 3 YOE 🥰
Product Manager in Tech can be like 20 hours/week of real work and makes more than 150
10 hours 😭

Yup, I've been in one the past few years. I can count on one hand the number of times I've worked over 40 hours since I made my exit in 2018.

Sr manager working at a tech company. I make 180 with 8 yoe owning analytics and BI for the company
Husband works in Finance (Wealth Management) and rarely works over 40 hours per week. Makes over $1M. Makes me angry sometimes, but then again, I benefit from it.
Yep person I knew had a great mentor but also went to one of the top Ivies, so had a great network and as his peers there did well he was able to get more business
Partner. That pays. 😂But by then no family would be left, no hair on the head would be left lol

No hair on the head, but what about the back?

Yes, I work for a software company. TC is $200k but I strongly agree with SE1. I thought if I left consulting I would enjoy my work more and have a greater sense of ownership and accomplishment. But, it just made me realize I hate working even if the hours are reasonable
I work 36 hours and get paid $320k at Google. Look up strategy and operations roles and program management
It definitely does. GTECH is easy Money
OP - I was like you and unsure too, although the number I was guessing was closer and not quite the $150k.
I just received an offer for 250k where I was told by someone that I knew that if you work more than 45 hours you maybe in the top 95th percentile of longest working person. This is tech And it certainly exists. Make the switch but don’t go for common consulting exit roles like Strategy & Operations. Plenty of other roles should you get you to it. It may not be 9-6 all the time but on avg you will get a great lifestyle
Sorry for the late reply.
Pwc5 - Annualized TC. It’s actually 260k if it matters
M2 - For one of my projects I went really deep on performance management and just walked them through it
C7 - It comes in a lot of colors - It could be sales force effectiveness - management of the performance of sales teams, or advertising / overall media spend; HCOL - Like Chicago,Seattle

Lord I suck I guess 😂
They sure do, but the grass isn't always greener my friend. Minimal upward mobility and miss the grind of consulting and clear career trajectory.
Yeah, what?! I respect the ambition/work ethic but cannot fathom desiring "the grind." If someone is going to pay me as much or more to do less, be less stressed, have more time with family and friends, etc., I'm all over it. My pre-ZS gig was super chill and I never once thought "dang, wish I had more meetings/deliverables/travel... hate all this time to actually live my life!"
Yes. Exited to a small healthcare co as Dir. TC: 320. Rare days that go beyond 9 to 6.
That’s my ideal job. I was just promoted to manager - have any openings on your team? Can I PM you to find out more?
Yes DM me. Tech
Mine. 8-4, 190k
What industry, title and YoE?
Lots of internal roles at MBB
Transferred from client facing to internal role. Still work 50-60hrs a week as standard.
Granted, stress levels have plummeted and it's a vast improvement from 70-90

I could go back to freelance and work in sprints half the time and make 200k as a 1099.
If you develop deep expertise and a network then there are different options.
A lot of people saying text here you’ll work very little hours.
Tech is very team-based rather than company based (like consulting) but worse because you being in a bad team is not going to be 6 months, is going to be years.
And at FAANG for you to move to a different team you need your manager to sign off on you.
Easier to have the same culture throughout a startup then a big tech, what are you saying?
Yes doing secondment I literally work 20 hours a week. They offered me a full time job and I’d keep my comp ...

Heard that’s like a blend of fp&a and Corp dev, does that feel accurate?
320k , 36-40 hours
Doing what!? And where!?
30-40 hours per week, 200k TC with 3 YOE
