Many of my students don’t have WiFi or consistent technology access. They also would not be at home worrying about school work if we closed - they need more structure.
No they don’t and the first year we rolled out 1:1 tablets they worked really hard to get hotspots into those homes. But that was 4 years ago and they haven’t had the hotspots since.
I’m in a low income school and all but maybe one or two have internet access and a computer. There is always the public library for kids who don’t have it, though. I don’t know if any community without at least one library, somewhere.
@Michigan-that is also an issue in my district. There are multiple kids who rely on the free breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack.
I’m in a rural area, so a lot of kids don’t have reliable access in the middle of nowhere.
I am in an Urban part of my district and fully 10% of my students have no internet at home (some have no electricity). E-learning is just not an option for all, especially if public schools and libraries close
Nope. I have some that are homeless.
I don't work at a 1:1 distrct. Many students don't have Wi-Fi, or any type of computer/tablet. Many parts of my rural district don't even have cell coverage, so even if they have a computer, they can't hotspot with a smartphone. No way could we do any sort of virtual classroom if we closed.
This! & also our FRL rate is so high, I worry about the kids getting enough to eat.
