Profit sharing goes to our 401k and anything else we get in bonus whereas gain sharing at progressive is on top of what they match for your 401k. But they both are based in the performance of the company.
he main difference that I’m aware of is the gain share targets vary by position/level of responsibility whereas geicos do not (with slight variance by dept). Also the calculation is different in that progressives is a target multiplied by a factor ranging from 0-2.0.
For example as a director your gain share target could be 25%. The factor could be 2.0 based on company performance so you’d be paid 50%. Someone else might have an 8% target and get 16% (8 x 2.0)
As far as I know they’re based on similar Financial results (profit, loss, growth). Hope this helps!
It depends on the policy of the company. In our company, we practice a mixture of both.
Hello! We have profit sharing in our company. Do you have any question about it? I'd be glad to help.
