Tax Bowl

Do any B4 use OneDrive or Google Drive or is everyone still sending versions back and forth? I’m talking about for things like adding comments, suggesting changes, etc etc for NON-AUDIT work

In my experience, no one wanted to use the official tools (EYOS, Eydelivers, EY Interact) until absolutely necessary. So we osty used network drives. Ever since EY started doing Modern Workspace, I've been pushing my group (although I moved out of tax to advisory) to use OneDrive. It also helped that they shut down the network drives for my old group (which was in tax), so I keep telling them OneDrive is the future vs network drives. My new group does a lot of PowerPoint reports where we would have multiple versions. When I showed everyone that everyone could edit simultaneously and maintain version control, they were sold on it. I agree that sharing links is a good way to promote adoption. Also, since everyone was used to network drives, I showed everyone how they can sync different onedrives to windows explorer so they don't have to use the web interface. However, since OneDrive isn't that great at collaborating on Excel, that is still a pain point. But it's still better because of autosave.

We use Google drive sometimes for slides if it's across a bunch of different teams

But you’re all still moving back and forth with emailed versions?

We have one drive, my team doesn't use it but it's there if we need it

Some of my projects use teams or EYOS(SharePoint). But email is still the biggest method

Because then it needs to find its way to share point for our retention rules. And I still have issues getting one drive on my iPad.

We use Drive all the time. No, we aren’t emailing back and forth. It’s actually a really nice feature.

No I get it. There’s a ton of inertia and resistance to change among large portions of our collective organizations. It’s something that SHOULD be challenged. I’m sure a lot of these “older guys” were the ones who were forcing their partners to use computers and electronic workpapers back in the day, too!

We use One Drive a lot in my team since the release of Modern Workspace, it also allows you to backup your computer files and share easily with a link without having to send the file via email.

No OneDrive at KPMG or any cloud document storage on the tax side. Even thought all the other big four have growing cloud footprints, we still don’t know if it is safe 😂😂😂. Heads Down Thinking!
