Is exiting to PE feasible either pre or post MBA? What firms would be best to target/have an insurance emphasis? Anyone have any advice on how to get into ESG work without any direct client/industry related experience in this field. Have 5 years of tech implementation experience which seems to have almost 0 transferable skills to ESG. Is the Workday Payroll Certification really worth it?

Especially considering you can make a similar amount of money doing the other core HCM modules without having to learn about the Practitioner side of things in Payroll.

Also, if you want to exit to an internal role, 9/10 job openings that I see do not even list payroll as a requirement but you'll always see the core modules+ Absence & TT.

Has anyone else noticed that Axcess tax calculates 163j state mods incorrectly in certain circumstances? For me I’m noticing it’s calculating the adjustment on a standalone basis for states that want to match the feds consolidated treatment. It also isn’t picking up the fact that we are taking the election for 2019 adjusted taxable income.

It’s not so much the hours even, but the content of what I do (HCPE) feels wrong to me, and the amount of time I spend working on non-billable projects just to be yelled at for not billing crazy numbers. I want to get out, but I don’t even know what my exit options would be this early on - I want to be done with private practice forever. Am I just stuck until I have more experience?

When your seniors aren’t motivated and pulling their weight, it shows and demotivates you. It’s a domino effect. How do you handle these situations? The senior pushes every single thing down and it’s clear to everyone this person could care less. Makes me not care and not want to do anything either…

Irrationally triggered when someone is “kindly following up” on a prior email / request. Setting aside if you’re actually being kind, by having “kindly” refer not to the person who is requested to do something but to the person doing the requesting, you’re misusing the word. Kindly = ~please.

End of Year Evaluations - first year associate filling out their end of year evaluations. Any tips for what to put for things like “list 2 to 4 accomplishments” when you mostly did research and document review? What about for “two to four developmental goals for the incoming year” when you aren’t sure if you’re happy at the firm or what your long term plans are?

What’s the proper way to give notice before leaving for another firm? Talk to HR first? I’m really close to two partners I work with, but neither is the practice group lead. They’re going to be real upset, but I found a job in a state I’ve always wanted to live in.
