Do any companies offer the option for new employees to choose their compensation structure between the following:
1. A set base salary with no bonus structure
Or
2. A slightly smaller base salary but with the ability to earn a performance bonus

Example:
Offer 1 - 100k base no bonus structure
Offer 2- 90k base with an OTE of 110k

Typically this isn't an option for employees. It may be that in higher bonus structured plans/roles that the mix of pay can be shifted slightly either way, but in the examples below, I'm certain every employee would choose to have it all in fixed pay (I.e. salary). Rationale being you can't take someone's salary away but bonuses are variable and pending company performance could potentially not be paid out at all.

Bonuses are called incentive compensation for a reason, they're supposed to incentivize. They require a good bonus plan and structure around them to actually incentivize employees though.

like

I've never heard of any examples, but now that you bring it up it's something to look into. Could incentivize certain staff.

My main concern is that by offering this structure, candidates may be offended or turned off completely thinking: “if they are offering a bonus structure for 5-10k more, why are they not just giving that in the as part of salary?”

yeah I feel like this could get really dicey and there would be too much vulnerability around favoritism etc - this could go sour very quickly

How hard is everyone pushing their corporate clients to authorize nonresident assignees whose only 2020 US compensation was the value of their 2019 tax preparation?
My clients are pushing back on it this year, and I can't say I blame them. If I were in their shoes, I'd rather take the risk of not filing than the expense of filing again. From my own point of view, I don't really want to spend my time on such returns, either, even if the revenue and easy return are nice.

Does anyone know what a homegrown Deloitte first year consultant salary is? (HCOL city). Trying to understand experienced hire salary difference. Thanks!

Considering offers from Deloitte and PwC. Base comp both around 200k, but Deloitte offered at Manager level and PwC at Senior Manager. (Keep in mind that PwC has the Director level above SM that does not exist at Deloitte.) How does the work a top of band Deloitte Manager do differ than a PwC Senior Manager given that the SM role is next to principal/partner at Deloitte? Curious if I am going to end up an overpaid work stream lead on a Deloitte project if I accept a Manager role.

I saw the question before but it has died so I’ll ask again, what is your job title & base salary. Years of experience and bonus structure would be nice to but not necessary.

I’ll go first, I have 5 YOE, currently am a technical consultant, 110k with a up to 5k bonus per quarter based on MBOs.

Hi! My friend works as a recruiter for a recruiting agency, and he told me the company will let recruiters “pay debt”. So each month that you don’t close any deal, you get paid for your base salary, then you are also on debt. Once you close a deal for example 3 months later, then you have to pay your salary back for those 3 months that you did not close any deal. And also the Inmail fee on LinkedIn will be deducted from the commission too. Is this normal in recruiting agencies?
