Do any corporate legal departments use document management programs? I transitioned about a year ago from a firm to a company and the legal dept now just used network folders and it’s a hot mess trying to save and track versions. Never thought I’d miss anything from firm life, but document management software is one thing I really miss.

Hey guys. When looking at the forums around consulting and MBA the EY Tech MBA is rarely mentioned in a positive way and the same goes for Hult. It is really discerning to read but I often think that it is probably only the ‘Elitist T7 or nothing’ who writes these comments. However I think there is a real need for Hult to improve their Bran and reputation. So my question to you is simply. Do you think this will ever happen?

At what point in a new job do you start to get a feel on how the GC wants you to draft documents? I’m a second year attorney who just went in house a month ago to a company where it’s just the GC and I. He’s been a great mentor so far and knows I’m a novice, but I always feel horrible when I spend hours on a contract draft and he changes all of my redlines.

Newbie question: where does Risk Management end and begin in relation to the role and work of in-house counsel? Where the two overlap and where do they (or should) significantly diverge?

Is there a type of in-house work that’s more focused on legal research/legal questions/dilemmas b/w law and ethics? Just finding commercial work to be boiling down to "be the literate person in a room full of people pretending to be illiterate"…

Anyone here counsel for a parent company with a lot of subsidiaries but the parent company’s legal department is really really small? I’m wondering if a small legal department for a large company is more of a pro or con? On one hand I suspect it’s less organized, on the other it might be a great leadership opportunity. Any insight? Considering trying to make a pivot. Currently a prosecutor. I have a lot of trial experience and did some ID work. Are there any logical roles aside from just litigation to keep an eye on as for as in house? I’ve been thinking there must be some applicability to the investigation skills I’ve developed but I don’t know what the move should or would be. Do others feel lonely in their roles? I moved in-house from a firm a few months ago, and while I recognize that the virtual nature of the work is a huge factor (I haven’t yet met my coworkers, so it’s harder to make friends), I also am in a small legal department where everyone is far more senior than me, so I don’t have any camaraderie. I’m glad to not only be working with lawyers (like at my firm), but I do miss the ease of having peers with whom I could easily make friends and chat.
