Do any of the demonizing headlines about teachers make anyone want to leave education? Someone on Fox yesterday said that teachers are inclined to be pedophiles. He especially called out male teachers. He had a whole interview about it. He’s a playwright & goes by the name Mamet or something. I am so upset about this disgusting false allegation that was being made on national tv which has billions of viewers. 😡😡😡😡😡

Mamet will get excoriated from many directions is my guess. I wouldn't pay too much heed to it.
These shows often have guests with ludicrous theories or ideas. It isn't limited to Fox News and it can be found on TV at virtually any time of day. The View is a good example as well. Levin should have definitely pushed back on that idea. I'm sure Levin doesn't share that belief. Mamet should stick to writing plays. Personally, I don't think headlines are going to drive teachers away from education. I think the increasingly obvious inclination to let the tail wag the dog is going to do that. Administrations keep bending over backwards to enable students and cater to their bad habits, often in the name of "restorative justice". They've ceded authority when they should be taking a stand. Respect from students is on the decline.
What's worse is that the younger generation of educators will likely continue this trend in the same direction. I hope this isn't the case. My family is full of teachers and we are all disheartened by these things.

The anti-education rhetoric might be the most exhausting part of being a teacher for me. At seven years into a career, I feel like I shouldn't be this exhausted. This is my second career and though it still feels more fulfilling I was never this burnt out the first time around.
As for the pedo thing, f#@$ him! I'm gay and if I had a dollar for every public message associating that with being a predator I'd be a rich person.

Definitely disheartening and frustrating, but I wouldn't say it has me wanting to throw in the towel. If anything, I find it serves as motivation to show parents that educators aren't what they're making us out to be in the media. Hang in there!

Yes, I have considered leaving education, but far before crazy headlines appeared. But, this is the cherry on top for me. I hope by the end if next year I would have transitioned into a different career field.

I become discouraged when the criticism is closer to home. Literally. Any national news network is kept afloat by sponsors and ad revenue. They need viewers to make that work, so they’re going to air things that stir controversy. That way people wander their way and view things so they can become angry and defiant about whatever controversial slant the national news network took. I ignore them in large part.

But if the criticism is coming from the local paper or the local news or the local politicians, that’s harder to take. There is more likelihood that local criticism will negatively impact my work and there is more likelihood that local criticism might be on to something or signaling a shift in community values. And that will worry me.

I'm sorry that David Mamet has lost his mind. He used to be a very good playwright.

yeah I have thought of leaving education alot the last 4 years because of all the hatred that seems to be redirected toward teachers and being blamed for the way kids are. The focus on home being the place of education is dead.

Hi folks,

How do people go about applying to in house positions? LinkedIn? Recruiters?

I work in privacy (3rd year AMLaw) and get tons of screener interviews for in house positions, but never make it past the screener call. I have the experience the position is looking for (truthfully answer the do you have experience questions with always yes), do my research on the company before the call, and think I come across as a reasonably normal person. Is there something I am doing wrong or missing? Is it my relative inexperience being a third year?

Hello Fish,
My friend just joined the organisation and it's been a month towards his career but suddenly he started facing BGC(Background Check) issue and also got confirmation from HR that they will terminate him as his BGC got red level error. Now in this situation what he should do or suppose if he gets the termination because of this so can he join the other organisation.
Does it happen with many people?

Can somebody give me a resolution on above which can help us in future jobs?

Sounds about right
