What level from industry would you need to join MBB as a Principal/AP vs Partner? Most Partners seem to be VP level from large corporates / CSuite from well known startups
Are the big 4 the only consulting companies that requires work papers after each engagement? Seems like an audit thing.
WWYD? I have an offer for the same job I currently do, but at a different B4 and (hopefully) with better leadership. Still interviewing and was told today that my candidacy was very strong for the position I really want at company 2, but they won't be able to make a decision for at least 2 weeks. I have to provide a decision for the first offer soon and have stretched out the timeline as much as possible. Take the gamble? Go for the job I really want vs. anything to get out of a bad situation
If you were looking to exit Big 4 Consulting, what positions would you be targeting? I have done a little of everything with no specialization (great performance reviews across the board). But now a little unsure of what my skills really are from an employer POV.
MBB folks on H1-B who recently switched to FAANG - did you run into any issues with visa transfer? My transfer has been filed and I’m a bit nervous about USCIS’ perception of consultants and the current sentiment around H1-B visas.
Currently working for big 4 firm and have a desire to transfer to MBB due to learning/pay/camaraderie. Due to competitiveness, can I hear from people at boutique who like the culture and experiences?
Recieved an offer for Strategy & Consulting in NYC for Publicis Sapient and not sure what to make of the opportunity? I've heard great things about them and that they have an all MBB leadership team. Looking to make the jump to strategy and was wondering what their rep (hard to find a lot of info) is and if it looks like a good jump?
Looking at you MBB & FAANG
Can someone give me feedback on my profile? GRE: 333 GPA: 3.3, Top 15 US undergrad in STEM CFA - Joined a YC tech-startup as an early employee and saw us through seed funding; working with the CEO - Big 4 M&A Top 5% performer (left after 3 years) Targeting M7 schools. Thanks!
Just received an offer for Sales Consultant at Oracle. Currently doing consulting at a Big 4. Can someone please share the day-to-day of a sales consultant at Oracle? I’ve heard about demoing products for clients, but is that the majority of the work? What technologies are used often? Do sales consultants work a lot of overtime? Is receiving target variable common? Thanks for your help!
When would we ever have 360° feedback for seniors and staff to rate and provide feedback to their managers? Upward feedback has been a thing in Big tech/ banking but non-existent in big 4 consulting
Currently at BCG, received offer from another MBB offering additional 12 months tenure credit for recognizing my prior-MBB experience. Jump?
Senior Associate, top 5 MBA, 10+ YE, 1.8 YE in consulting, will not make EM this cycle but apparently pretty close. Thinking about trying out in MBB, mainly McK, and mainly due to brand. Advice?
What is the typical percentage difference in consulting salaries between the Big 4 and firms like RSM, BDO, and GT? Specifically in the DC Area
Why are Glassdoor reviews for MBB so high? There's a sizeable amount of consultants on this app that dislike their jobs.
Hi Fellow Fishes, It is very important to take some time off every now and then. If you can take at least a week off every 2 months, and use that to get some office work done, trust me it will change your life...
How much house can I afford on a gross annual salary of $72k with no other debt, single/no dependents? How do you know the ballpark you should generally be able to afford?
I recently went alcohol free due to health reasons. Are there many other alcohol free fish out there? What are some tips in this business? The long dinners are tough. Thanks!
What a time to be on the bench
Being recruited by Deloitte —wht would be the level & salary band for someone with 4 years of consulting exp, masters, & sec clearance. Got low balled @ BAH & want to make sure it doesnt happen again
What is the highest comp increase for consultant to senior consultant at Deloitte Advisory Analytics this year that people know of?
Hi Fishes, What will be my in-hand Salary
I’ve been laid off and, as I embark on my job search, I’d like to keep my marketing skills sharp. Any recommendations on must read books, or resources?
Interesting tool that’s worked well for me! Thought I’d pass along. https://www.businessinsider.com/work-from-home-lurk-always-active-slack-microsoft-teams-jabber-2020-5
Currently a consultant and looking to exit opps as a product manager for a startup. What should my salary expectations be? I feel like I'm going to have to take a pay cut for the long term experience.
How many square feet does a couple need in a one bedroom? What’s the minimum, what’s comfortable, and what neighborhoods are good value for apartments that meet those requirements? We’ll both still work from home some days a week, but not regularly
I am currently working as Senior Consultant in my current firm and just got an offer from Deloitte UK and Version1 for HCM Cloud practice. Version1 pays more (75k basic + quarterly profit share) and has good employee centric policies where else Deloitte has 60k basic + 5100 in flex benefits and no clarity on bonus. The only reason why I wanted Deloitte was for the exposure but is it really worth it? Considering the work life balance may not be as great here as well. Will appreciate any help
How likely are you to get a job you interview for? At B4 they basically gave us offers if we had a pulse, what are the odds for industry jobs?
2021 Headwinds and Tailwinds. What are the thoughts as the fiscal year closes out? I'm seeing 2021 as likely more punishing given the lack of visibility and the fact we may have diminished economic activity for 2 to 3 quarters. I have little visibility into how comp will be impacted but can only imagine lots of early retirement zoom parties. Thoughts?
Customer Engineer offer in Austin around $225k TC for 4 YOE Base $130k Bonus $60k GSUs $140k Thoughts? This seems decent based on my research but couldn't find a ton of data points. What is the career trajectory/opportunity like is a Google CE? Opportunities to move to product later on or will I be heavily soloed within tech? How do refreshers work? For example at other tech companies I've heard only about 10% of a team might receive refreshers each year
Don't want to do any work. Don't want to quit. Don't want to get fired. How do I square this circle? 🤔🤔🤔
Piggy backing on my podcast post: I work mostly in film...when it comes to pure audio talent (radio/podcasts) are there set union rates comparable to SAG? Or can you set your own?
I’m looking to hire a producing FA in the Allen, Tx. Must be self motivated and willing to earn CFP. Base salary provided the first year.
I’ve been tasked with finding a good gift to give an entire team to celebrate a milestone in the project - hoping to crowdsource some ideas. Budget is ~75 dollars per person. Can’t imagine people want a virtual happy hour or something that requires a time commitment. What are some good gifts you’ve seen/received?
