Do big 4s in the UK generally pay higher to Managers with an MBA Vs without (homegrown)?

I work in strategy and nobody ever asks about MBAs. A job spec once said I needed one, but I still got the job without it! When I was offered at Deloitte it never got mentioned or discussed, but I didn’t take that role in the end so maybe once I got there more people would have them. It’s hard to say someone would get more money with one, but I doubt it, at least on an automatic basis. Maybe that particularly candidate becomes more attractive but when I’ve done hirings, it also has never came up as ‘ooh look they have/don’t have an MBA’ It’s an American construct if you ask me... academia is great but it’s only ever one part of the story.

Accenture Strategy pays about 70k+ when recruiting from MBA programmes. The rest pay 80-90k+

No. I’ve known analysts / associates with MBAs and PHDs. Your degrees really don’t give an advantage in the UK. In other words; Experience and skill > academia

MBA isn't as valuable in the UK as it is in the US. PwC does not pay a premium for MBA.

Interesting... If that's the case why even bother to get an MBA from LBS, Oxford or Cambridge when it's not going to be financially beneficial here?? Do non financial benefits such as network and academics outweigh?

Are you referring to Big 4 in non-strategy consulting roles? (ie, EY instead of EY-Parthenon)

Full-time MBA or EMBA? My company (EY) would pay for EMBA, but require me to stay with the firm for 3y post graduation; MBA would be on me and I have no more than 50k in my savings. The reason I am considering full time MBA is that I am not sure I want to stay in consulting, especially not in EY. Also, I am 30yo with 7y of experience and was recently promoted to a Manager. Any advice?

For those of you that left big 4 accounting to do MBA, did you leave at Senior level (3-4 YOE) or at the Manager level (5 YOE). I would assume to leave at manager level would be more ideal as when you come back to the workforce you should at the very least be ready to come in at manager or above at your next job? Thoughts?
