Not typically, but they can. Why are you thinking of lying?
They do. Asked for my pay stubs from the previous employer.
It's not illegal. If you consent, no issues from a legal standpoint. If you don't consent, don't expect an offer.
There was a post about Deloitte doing so yesterday
D2 - before starting it afterwards?
*or
Is that legal, or ethical?
Deloitte definitely verified my previous salaries.
Kpmg verified mine
How do they verify?
D did but just called my old manager.
3rd parties, as well as ask you for pay stub for most recent employer. I know people who have gotten offers pulled for lying.
Depends on the state, but if it isn't expressly prohibited in your state, every past employer can and will verify your dates of employment, title, and salary upon departure. What they can't do is tell if you were fired/laid off/resigned and what your performance reviews were. So definitely be truthful when it comes to dates, title, and salary 'cause otherwise it can come back to bite you
Before starting...they mentioned it while i was negotiating and during background check they asked for it. Not sure if its legal but i did not inquire much into it....
It's not ethical if you believe is salary transparency... but it's not illegal
Not legal in Massachusetts anymore. In most states, it is legal.
