I was internally referred for an “Industry Business Consultant- Solution Architect- Healthcare and Life Sciences” at Microsoft. I fit the requirements with no problem.
My referrer looked and the portal said my status was “Application Submitted and being reviewed, Pending Candidate Response”.
The problem is no one contacted me to be able to respond to anything.
How do you recommend I handle this because it’d be a shame to lose out on an opportunity because of a lost communication.
Thank you!

You get asked about drug usage if your position requires a clearance. And if you maintain a clearance you are obviously not allowed to use drugs regardless of state laws.
As for drug testing, you are always subject to random drug testing. When I was a govie I was randomly tested a few times throughout my career (DoD) but haven’t personally experienced having to do one since switching to consulting.
Same. I'm tested more as an Army Reserve soldier
Been in defense and national security working for prime contractors for 25 years. If you apply for a new clearance, change jobs, or onboard to a new client in federal space, it’s very likely you’ll have a drug test. And then random testing beyond that is unpredictable. I’ve had 4 drug tests in 25 years.

Friend of mine has been a fed at DOD for 12 years and they've had a random drug test policy in place for her org the entire time. Used to get tested maybe once a year, but she's been tested 8 times in the past 3 years, so make of that what you will.
If you use drugs please don’t come to DoD accounts.
