Experienced hire McKinsey candidate here, no MBA (yet) - what level of business knowledge is expected from cases? I did engineering for undergrad and want to make sure I’m well versed before my case interviews but am not sure what a reasonable scope is. I’ve been in big 4 consulting for the past 2 years so I have some exposure to business terminology.
Just got another rejection... Is exiting to FAANG or MB really this hard? Trying to go tech.. or mbb, but not getting anywhere. I have 2 masters (mba, ms) from top schools, been in consulting for over 10 years, I am confident that I know my stuff well..but still I keep getting rejected. Interviewed with Google, Amazon, Cisco, McKinsey, and a few others and every-time there is something that is not a match... are the hiring managers looking for like 100% match? That will never happen!!!
I know MBBers go to schools other than HSW, but is it worth it? Feels like the exit ops are so good at MBB, what’s the value you see in a non HSW mba?

For those of you saving for an mba what is your approach? I am currently 1 year out of school and have around 40k in high interest savings and another 40k in other savings accounts (brokerage, Roth, 401k). Should i keep a 50/50 split or invest the money and sell later? Also what is a good amount to have saved prior to matriculation assuming no scholarships at a top school?

Recommendations for intro-style MBA courses? Considering a full MBA, but not convinced. Have a ~$5k education stipend, and looking for something to test the waters. HBS CORe looks interesting. Any other recommendations? Open to other types of courses too. Currently in functional IT role, looking to go more to the business/delivery (than technical) side in the future.

Is it possible to move up the ladder without an MBA? Goal of consulting partner or Fortune 500 c-suite?
Is there any reason to lateral from one big 4 strategy practice to another other than a comp bump? Working on great projects at great clients right now with a good network, and up for a promo. So not sure I want to risk leaving but didnt receive a raise due to firm performance. Am pre mba and have already switched big 4’s once....
I haven’t opened a PMP book once, but have studied project management and agile a bit independently. Is it possible to pass the exam before December 31?
Getting an MBA part-time. My GPA is about a 2.75 so far. Not too concerned, but if I am up for partner later in career will this come up? Do transcripts matter anymore? Only thing I’m nervous about.
Ladies! I am about to start at McKinsey in a few months post MBA. Looking for pointers on books, softwares, skills to prep myself to be my best self at work. I’ve already heeded the advice to relax and enjoy the downtime, but looking to also use this time to develop myself more. Y’all always have the most thoughtful advice so figured I’d ask here 🤗

PwC 🐬 do you know if we can book rooms and car directly from the hotel and car hire websites with the Corporate AMEX and code instead of Voyager? I get some cashback doing it on the websites.
I’m starting maternity leave soon and have kept my group well-informed so that no one is surprised. HR keeps telling me to transfer my cases, but the senior attorneys/partners don’t seem to care and keep tasking me on projects. I keep gently reminding them that I could be gone at any moment, but it doesn’t matter. I’m glad work has picked up because my hours were very low, but it is extremely stressful right now. It feels as if as a pregnant attorney I will have to work even while in labor.
Possible in Seattle - how is it? Is it mostly just b2b Microsoft stuff? Is there a strong culture?

I probably spent over $2000 this past year but started my first year as a self-contained SPED teacher in an autism program. Such different supplies needed then the general education classroom.
*sigh* Will I ever find a company that cares about HR professional development as much as the employees’ we help? Getting sick of hearing about how development is so important to the company (often during orientation) but when I ask to attend a conference or get a certification, it’s crickets! I have more education/experience than most of the people we ‘serve.’
Does anyone get anxious every few days that they're getting sick ...? I'll be fine for a couple days, then have a day where I'm second guessing every throat tickle or sniff. It's aggivating.
