Do hiring managers look at where people get their degrees from? For example if I went to WGU and got a computer science degree in 1 year, would that been seen as less than someone who went to a conventional university and studied the same thing?

If you are going against people with degrees from higher-tier universities, it could definitely come into play.

As someone who has gone to a top-tier school, I agree that work experience mattes more. I think sometimes the top-tier schools are easier to get your foot in the door with, but it doesn't translate to winning out over the others

I don't but it's because my role usually focuses on portfolio

Like someone said in this thread, it depends on if it’s in the job posting or if the degree is from a top tier school. Outside of those variables experience in the actual role is top priority. I also like to add if it came down to someone who had an Ivy League degree but didn’t have the work experience I would 9/10 choose the person with the most work experience. The person with the most work experience requires less training.

Definitely depends on the company and role. I think it matters much less than it used to - it won't make or break, experience will

Depends on the hiring manager. In my experience, the fact that you have the degree matters more than where and/or how fast you achieved it. I wouldn't stress too much about it.

Should I be concerned for my career with lack of billable projects? Background: Analyst hired out of undergrad in July 2020. I have worked on 3 proposals in the last 2 weeks, and 5 in the last 2 months. In the past year since I was hired, I have 8 months of billable work which is actually slightly higher than the other Analysts I joined with. Should I keep collecting paychecks and hoping for projects, or is this a serious issue that should prompt an exit strategy?
