I should add, if you need compression socks for a medical reason, they will get them for you. I don’t know that they would encourage you to use a stomach belt w/in the first 72 hrs, but you could ask your dr.

I would ask your hospital. Some are different in what they provide.

They provide most of what you need. I brought comfy PJs ... pants with an elastic waist and a button-down shirt so I felt human and it was still easy for the nurse to check my bleeding and breast feed/skin to skin time. You phone charger. A camera. Something comfy to wear home. A tablet/computer. If all goes well, you won’t be there very long. You can deal with all of the other stuff at home.

Please make sure that any abdominal compression garment you wear provides support UP rather than in/down. Adding more pressure on the pelvic floor during recovery is not a great idea. I personally liked wearing basically a pair of bike shorts - the mild compression felt better than the corset-style product I bought.

I’m confused as to why you need a stomach belt? Socks will be provided if you need them by the hospital but I don’t think that is a common necessary item.

Stomach belt? Not sure you'll need that right away since your stomach will be about the size it was when you were 5-6 months pregnant. I'm pretty sure I didn't feel comfortable (it actually hurt to try) wearing a belt until a couple weeks after.

I see and hear so many teachers saying how hard it is to be a teacher these days. I just have to say that I went into teaching for those hard days. Those are the days these kiddos need to have someone in their corner the most. I knew every day wouldn't be easy. This is year 23 for me and I don't regret becoming an educator at all. If I had the past 23 years to do all over again, I wouldn't change my career path. I know there are hard days. There would be hard days in any job you have. Hang in!

Would you change practice areas to get great female mentorship? I am a few years in and love my practice area, but have not succeeded in getting the mentorship I need (from either men or women). I now have an offer to join a practice group at another firm with an extraordinary woman at the helm who is a strong personality match & wants to "develop" and coach me. I'm torn because I want to work with her, but I don't know if I'll like the new area of the law as much as my current practice.

Mommies, I have witnessed several households where men don't help with even the smallest chores. The kids grow up seeing this and probably believing that household work is only for women, no matter how tired they are after slogging at their day jobs everyday. What is the right way to tell parents about this upbringing and asking men to help out with household chores, at least for the sake of their kids' future?
