Go to a firm that isn’t laying off in your area. For every firm that’s losing in an area, there’s usually a few winners elsewhere. Figure out who those are before you go. Even if they’re not hiring right away, they’ll come roaring back when this is all over.

Hopefully you have been building your skills and tradecraft. If not, start now.
A: your post isn’t actually an answer.
B: A lot of us have been In roles for a year or two. That isn’t going to clear the automated hiring system if usual exit pipelines vanish.

A) it was an answer. If you have been doing your job and haven't improved on yourself to make yourself standout, then start now. For example, I know that a PMP and sec+ cert is always in demand from most clients for the work that I do, so I've gotten one and an working on the other. Figure out what you need to stand out and work towards it. Even if you don't get it, the fact that you can say you are working on it will still carry some weight in an interview.
B) if you are laid off, which means lots of other people probably were too. That means that blindly applying and hoping to get past the filters is a terrible plan. The best way will be through relationships/referrals. Start working on where else you might want to work and start talking to people there.
C) you have years of military experience which should be a part of your total professional picture, that should put you ahead of most of your peers

D) hopefully you are saving at much as possible right now
