We do hire juniors but we try to keep it at a certain number because juniors need real mentoring and guidance. A strong portfolio of even side projects can get you in. Nothing beats great work at any level

Barely anyone in NYC hires juniors directly, you have intern first then get hired as a junior after. Or know someone and have a direct referral

Like most of the agencies, we were operating in a high touch environment with our clients to grow business. And in 2020 everyone understood the need to operate remotely and focused on getting the work done. However a lot of sales/opportunities for growth were discovered in informal coffee/lunch sessions with clients. I wonder how are all of you engaging with clients in a remote set up. Would love to hear everyone’s experiences..

Interview in 3 hours and have never felt so unprepared. I’m immensely unprepared for the technical portion. Feel like I’m walking into a trap where I’m about to epically embarrass myself.

(Parenting adjacent) How does anyone juggle a chronic illness with work and kids? I’ve already done a long leave of absence and dropped from partner track to staff attorney. But I miss about three days of work a month ill, plus doctor appointments and having two kids (9 and 10, one autistic). We moved in with my parents and brother so I have help, but I’m so tired. (Their father isn’t an option for support of any kind). Suggestions?

Half my team got laid off and while I’m grateful to have my job still, I feel like I’m drowning in the additional work. All of their responsibilities have been assigned to me, the most junior person on the team. When I brought up that this was a bit much for one person/didn’t think this was sustainable (hinting at the fact that some of the other existing team members should pick some of the laid off peoples’ work), team lead went off on what I’m sure he thought was an inspiring speech about...

Any insight on interview questions / questions to ask for a boutique firm interview? It seems like a lot of the conversation is around culture since it is such a small organization as well as having that entrepreneurial mindset. Thanks!
