Do I have to give the firm two weeks notice? I’ve already let my team know that im leaving, but I’m still waiting for my background check for my new company to clear. Nervous about officially resigning without being fully cleared.

If you’re in the US, no. You don’t have to.

Just did this to avoid taking time off between positions and start as soon as possible. Nothing to worry about unless there's something glaring on your background that you know about... That being said, many others wait till the background check clears before resigning just to be sure. It's good to give 2 weeks just to avoid burning bridges (may also be a requirement in your original employment contract)

Thanks for the advice! So it’s better to just put in the two weeks anyways? I don’t have anything to hide it just makes me nervous haha

What are you nervous about on your background check?

Future reference, don’t tell anyone until you clear your background check and drug screen

Similar situation here... signed my offer and waiting for background check to clear. Found out I am getting staffed on a new project next week. Wondering if I should let my practice lead know that I am leaving just so they don’t have to replace me 1 week into the project 😰

Oof I would probably let the lead know if you’re leaving but wait to tell the firm if you aren’t worried about anything on your background check

Same situation here. My clearance won’t get through until my current employer will ask for my response to the counter offer. Being based in Europe, I have a 2 month notice and will resign before the clearance is through. It’s a risk but I have already my clean criminal records and did not lie on my application. The thing that worries me is that the background check can drag on as I lived in many countries. Overall, I also want to take a break before starting the new job so I will need to accept the risk of the pending clearance.

Looking for recommendations to generally upskill my Strategy work (or learn from scratch) — be it courses, classes, books, podcasts, people to follow.

For context, I’m a freelance Social Media Manager/Strategist and I came into Ad world via Startups. Throwing myself into learning on the job with more Strategy gigs - but I still don’t feel like I quite know the lingo or best practices or theories.

Would love any thoughts. I’m almost 6yrs in Accenture as a Management Consulting manager, worked in the telecom industry for the last few years and have mainly focused on CX/business process improvement. I’ve found lately that when I look at those managers above me/the execs we report to, I don’t necessarily envision myself wanting their jobs. I can’t tell if it’s the hours, the client bootlicking we end up doing, or just the need to try something new - but I’m not loving the idea of staying.

Got a level 7 offer Principal Solution Architect (Cloud) from Amazon (AWS).

But it's a low base at 160, 300 sign on bonus and then RSU over four years with unlock y1 5% y2 15% and year 3 and 4 40%. The RSU is 400..

Now the offer to me feels really good, however the vesting and the attrition rate of Amazon.. Makes me think I might actually never live long enough to see it? I'm at 250K base and a fluctuating bonus and stock awards placing me at about 350-380k per year.

Any input welcome
