Do I have to stay in a “pet friendly” Marriott hotel if I have an ESA letter? Moving across the country and not having to find a “pet friendly” hotel would definitely make things easier

You should try to find a pet friendly one, because there are also patrons (like me) that are allergic to cats or dogs, which is why the designation exists.

Maybe ask Marriott?

I do not have an ESA, but have traveled all over the country with my dog and am pleased to say there are tons of great pet-friendly hotels, it's not challenging whatsoever to find one. My German Shepherd has Marriott Gold Status :)

Hotels have gotten bold in 2021 - a lot now don’t recognize ESA anymore. I’ve been able to defend mine because I have a legitimate note from my PCP versus the printed -paid for certs online.

Biglaw first year deferred from September to late January with a $10k advance. I had to incur $11,000 in credit card debt to live, & right when I started work, had a medical emergency that ended up costing me another $3,500. My paychecks have been smaller due to paying back the advance and prioritizing maxing out my 401k and HSA (my credit card debt was interest free). It was depressing working these hours to mostly just pay needs and my debt. Today I paid it all off! Woooooo! I feel so free.

I have Amex points on corp card and need to buy a long haul flight. It looks like it’s best to use them by booking travel through Amex but I’m confused about the bit that says I’ll get a statement credit when I pay with points. Does that mean I’ll then have to spend more on the card to get rid of the credit?

General musing - it seems like the vast majority of recs in here are for super expensive hotels and resorts (St Regis, etc). I work in consulting and make good money but can’t fathom spending $600+ a night on a hotel. Am I really in the minority or is it just that ppl staying at the Ritz want to show off?

Hey team need some help - I’ve flown United since I was a child, and naturally I’ve flown with them through and through my consulting career. I just flew on Delta for the first time and it was so much nicer than what I’ve been used to. What’s loyalty like here at Delta - and is it worth status matching and becoming Delta loyal? NYC based if that makes any difference. TIA!!
