Do I send a thank you card to my brother’s partner if she came to my shower but did not gift anything? She came early to help set up and transported two of my friends at the end who don’t drive.

... yes.

Yes, it’s definitely a less common situation but it never hurts to be more generous in gratitude. Especially when it’s your brother’s partner.

like

Yes. I had a similar thing happen. Just send a note thanking them for coming and for helping set up. Thanks aren’t exclusive to tangible items.

Yes

You need to send thank you's for showers?

For gifts, obviously, and for someone who gifted their time it’s just the right thing to do.

like

I’m honestly shocked how many people said yes. I’ve never sent a thank you card to someone because they helped me with something for an hour or two. Is this standard or just bc you’re already sending everyone from the shower who gave a gift a thank you note?

I generally don’t send thank yous if a friend helps me for an hour or two, but there is something about “helps for an hour or two setting up a party for the specific purpose of showering you with gifts” that makes it feel like the graciousness of a good thank you note is needed.

Stil deserves a thank you. Gift or no gift.

Hi all. I am licensed in life, accident and health and am looking for new opportunities. I’ve been working in employee benefits in a small brokerage firm on a book of business of over 400 clients, I’m the only account manager. We’ve had 100% employer retention since I’ve been here. I am a high performer, but not sure I’m valued much at all . I want to reach the top and become partner in my career ; this is why I went to work for a small firm. Comment where you are cutting back to save money. Here are ours:
- Not doing a presidential suite, instead we’re getting a normal suite and using a conference room for hair/makeup/meals
- Centerpieces. We are doing a few bigger centerpieces, then small bud vases at the rest of the tables.
- Transportation for guests. Our wedding is in a major city and ubers are easily accessible.
- Flowers. No flowers for men, only the groom is getting a boutonnière. No flowers for parents/grandparents.

My future SIL will be one of my bridesmaids but I do not want to invite her to the bach because I’d much rather just have my friends there and not have to hold back on anything. I do plan on doing a small thing with my sisters (none of them are invited to the bach either and don’t care) and will invite her to that. How do I break this to her? I don’t want her to feel left out but I just rather not mix friends and family in a bach environment.

I feel left out and she and my husband’s family were rude at my wedding. CONT
