Littler does not

like

C1 - I assumed since OP is an associate they were asking about associates

JL does not. Profit sharing only for non attorneys.

like

OD doesn’t either, FYI

like

Not until you’re a nesh - then you get profit sharing.

like

JL doesn't. I'm not sure about Littlter. JL does profit sharing for non-lawyers.

With social security potentially running out, why couldn’t it be an option for the govt to put $5k for every baby that is born in a year into an account Invested in a govt share class S&P 500 fund. Historical average is 10%+, which would provide roughly $2.7 million for a baby born today. Eventually, this would eliminate the need for soc sec tax, and would only cost $18 Billion a year instead of several trillion a year being deposited into the trust.

Hello I’m currently working in tax but really want to pivot to corporate finance in fp&a. Any advice on how to get my foot through the door?

More background- I made a career transition from healthcare and originally thought the way to gain experience for a finance role was to have some experience in accounting. I joined tax but now realize the exit options are limiting. I don’t want to enter audit either or be in public accounting. Went through a year of public and it was hard on my health.

Serious question - is there a reverse FIRE strategy? I like the idea of saving and retiring early, but the one hiccup I see (and sorry if this is grim) is if you die earlier than expected. I’d be worried that I would minimize lifestyle and fun for retirement at 50 but I’d die at 49. How about a way to work 9 months out of the year and retire/travel/relax for 3 months? This way you guaranteed your dreams/etc. are fulfilled

I am attempting to lateral to a position at Littler/Ogletree/Jackson Lewis, but I do not have a license in the states where I am applying. I have been actively practicing for 8 years, so I should be able to waive into those jurisdictions without issue, but don't want to make that investment without an offer. Do those firms hire laterals and let them become licensed in the jurisdiction after coming on?

Anyone know Ogletree third and fourth year comp in SD?

like

Hi! First off, I know none of this constitutes legal advice, etc., but I’d like some outside perspectives and advice here.

My wife found out she makes ~25% less that her male co-worker did when he was her level of seniority, and they have the same job responsibilities and the exact same credentials (same undergrad, masters program, etc.); he now makes 50% more than she does, but has 3 more years of WE, so to me that’s not as applicable.

Does she have a claim here? Need any other details?
