Do landlords or brokers discriminate against Visa holders?

They might take it into account if your visa is expiring during the terms of the lease. Especially if it’s a situation where renewal is not guaranteed.

Its more soft than hard imo because of requirements such as: - Credit History / Score - References from other landlords (in country but often in region) - Local guarantors and proof of US assets to prove finances A lot of these go away at the professional managed apartment level but since those are quite expensive, it is still a pain especially if you have a lower budget or a student.

They do. We don’t. When I rented out the bottoms floor of a duplex in Brooklyn (I used to live in the top floor, but later rented the whole thing out). But my company Is a RE PE from. So I’m in the business. The candidate for the grade level unit was an EB-5 visa holder. He couldn’t find anywhere. I jumped at the chance—because just because he didn’t have an SSN or a job, he had at least $500k in the bank to get that visa. Most landlords don’t know this. He paid on time with automatic decisions. He was there because his daughter was in private school and they needed a place to live while she was in school. They went back to China as soon as this was over. Would that all tenants could be like that that! But while some landlords might be wary, there are those out there who understand how low risk some visa holders are.
