How can the Big 4 expect analysts to work so many hours for not much pay? $70k starting salary with no bonus potential working 12 hours per day when industry jobs pay slightly less and are 9-5?
Hi, all! I am currently in the process of switching firms. I’m at another big 4 in financial services. My new role has sent out a survey for market team preference between Financial Services and Products & Services (tech, media, telecommunications, consumer markets, etc). In terms of work and exit ops, which would you choose and why? Thank you!
Hey Big 4/ PA fish, when you write financial statements and footnotes for a company (technical accounting work), do you use PDF or word?
Currently a PhD at a M7. Veteran, and obviously used to be at EY. Currently in qualifying phase and starting to looking to post-PhD life. How do the firms differ in how they treat advanced degrees (ie stick to PhD area or are you a generalist)? How do federal vs commercial practices differ when recruiting advanced degrees? I recognize that there might be a pay differential (pay isn’t important, I don’t want to go back to B4 due to tax/consulting dichotomy), just would be great to be federal.
If you were laid off or fired would you apply for your current job? I was laid off from Big 4 audit in 2016 after working there for 2 years and it was one of the best things to happen to me. 1. It allowed me to reflect and decide what was important in my next career. 2. Losing a job isn’t as frightening as it seems. 3. Accountants have major job security as I got a job offer within 2 weeks. When you’re miserable at work ask yourself would you apply for your current job?
The progression of a big 4 auditor: intern: what am I doing with this support? Staff: where can I find this support ? Senior: how do I fix this support manager: how do I cut this budget
Help me fill in the blanks: M7 MBA = MBB + Big 4 HBS = McKinsey Wharton = Bain Stanford = ??? Kellogg = Deloitte Sloan = ??? Columbia = ??? Booth = ???

I'm a young analyst in ACN with 1+ year of experience in cloud migrations. I've received a very good job offer by another Big 4 in the same sector and service but with better career growth opportunities. I don't like to work in cloud service and also I don't like the banking sector. For this reason, I requested to be moved in another service in ACN. My manager said ok, but this probably takes several months. Next monday I have to provide a feedback to the other company. What would you do?
It's some serious bullshit how underpaid B4 is. This lie about the name on the resume being reason enough to go underpaid. Y'all deserve more money, regardless of name recognition.
Which of the big 4 + ACN pay the most for SAP?
Not the biggest Ramsey team fan, but I agree with most of this video. I can wait to see how Gen Z shapes the Big 4. https://youtu.be/xTiaMxnQ6rc
Which big 4 firms have commercial practices located in NOVA? Does KPMG Strat work out the Tysons office?
Fish @Deloitte GPS Risk and Financial Advisory -Are Data Scientists considered Senior Consultants? -Is 125k-130k too much to ask for as an experienced hire from another big 4?
Any tips for getting interviews/job offers? I don’t have too many people in my network but I’m trying to switch to another big 4 in tech. Ideally I would like to switch into consulting but I feel like that’s harder, especially right now. I’ve been applying to jobs on LinkedIn but not hearing back and I need to get out of here😭
OMG. This toolbag is clearly Of The Big 4 Tribe, but apparently travels with an actual fucking guitar (!) and is such a precious flower his rollaboard is longitudinal to the overhead compartment.
Exist opportunities from big 4 vs middle market- is big 4 really better in the long run?
Did Deloitte have a late-night Uber policy before the pandemic? Joining in a month and also moving and wondering how much I should consider it. For context, my current company had a policy pre-pandemic where we could Uber home every time we worked after 7PM and we could expense meals as well during those days.
Are you union or non-union?

Anyone ever do work as an independent consultant through BTG? Are they legitimate? Any input on what it's like and comp would be appreciated, thanks
All my MBB 🐠, is there anyone who would be willing to chat with me about your role and experience, the company culture and work and potentially work with me to see if I am a good fit and also if you would be willing to refer me? I am currently a Senior Consultant at EY.
In your opinion; what’s a reasonable salary for an entry level tax accountant position? I was asked if I had a number in mind but I said I was flexible as I don’t have tax experience and they still would like me to interview.
Exit opps for 🐠 doing SAP work: Considering move to Industry - What kind of roles & salary range can I expect? Currently a M on path for SM in next 6 months. FWIW - Southeast.
PTO - Alhumdulillah
Interested in moving to strategy from tech in entry level role. Should I wait until Fall to hit 1 YOE before looking? Mindful of missing out on current hiring frenzy. I’m currently a high performer at my firm, on track for promotion ~1 year from now, and only working ~40 hours/week, but I don’t find the work interesting at all (PMO for ERP implementation).
Does AMEX match/negotiate salaries for external hires? I know their compensation is a but on the lower side but wondering if they’ll match current compensation.
Is this new “don’t hire portfolios” philosophy getting out of hand and agencies are ending up hiring shitty creatives?
Sorry if this isn’t the right bowl! I was fired from my last job due to performance issues. I filed for unemployment and was approved, however my former employer filed an appeal. I’m not even sure what they’re protesting but it’s making me really nervous. What should I do now?
I graduated with my bachelor's in HRM and I'm wondering if there are any certifications or trainings I could do before I lock down on the SHRM-CP. I recently became HIPAA certified for my company and that got me thinking about what else I could do to add to my resume. Looking for good stepping stone certificates.
DC 🐠 can anyone speak to the IT internal audit clients at deloitte? will my travel be on metro or on a plane?
MBB 🐠, if you could do it all over again, would you? Thinking about getting MBA and would love some honest feedback. TIA!
Just finalized and booked my wife and I to a vacation in Europe for end of the year. Feels amazing to call it our honeymoon after 4 years of marriage ❤️ Delayed gratification and totally worth it.
Checking out a Deloitte New Venture Accelerator Role as a commercial strategy consultant. Any tips on the team dynamic and interview? I figure it’s a night and day difference from Fed
After a few long interview processes, I've learned that prior CPG experience is highly valued when entering any CPG industry (even in low- to mid-level roles). Can someone with experience recruiting in the space help explain the importance of the experience? Alternatively, would love to be able to "spin" my resume to help fill in the gaps that this lack of experience leaves.
