Do Marriott hotels check to verify corporate rate? Like do you have to show proof of working there?

Just tell them you are interviewing so you don’t have a business card or official email. Although they get to determine what the appropriate burden of proof is

Out of my 1,000+ nights at Marriott I’ve only been asked once in the Marriott in Hong Kong. I’ve had a co-worker be kicked out of the St Louis Marriott for trying to use GDY. Be confident and have a valid excuse and you shouldn’t have a problem. Helps when you have status too.

Hotels in East Asia check pretty often. I've only been asked once in the U.S. and I told the front desk person that I'm an attorney (true) and don't discuss confidential information (also true). Got the key no problem.

I think this mostly gets checked if you’re using a gov rate since those are crazy low

It depends on the hotel/management. I’ve been asked for a rate card once (Illinois). On a project a few years ago, my manager warned me about a couple hotels in the area (California) that check.

Been asked at the Westin St Francis in SF. I started to show my firm ID, but that actually doesn’t show the firm’s name. This was probably my 8th stay at the property under the firm rate. Eventually they accepted me saying they could email me at a firm email address (but never actually did so).

Over 1000 nights. Asked several times. Only once was it a problem in NJ. But it resolved easily.

I have had this happen twice (both times in Atlanta). One time, I asked a coworker to call the hotel manager, stating he was my manager and that everything was kosher. The other time, I told them I’d get back to them, but never did.

Been asked a couple times at the US Grant in San Diego (we have an insane rate there)

Never happened to me. 800 nights in

I always though the worst that could is they charge you the rack rate. Would they really kick you out? Lol

Lol have you seen the rack rate at these hotels? They wouldn't kick you out if they can get you to pay the rack rate.

Wouldn't a business card do?

Eta: for you, at Accenture, 99.9% you wouldn't have any issues showing your Accenture business card.

The only time I got asked was when a loud mouth coworker spilled the beans in front of the front desk staff. We had to renegotiate our own rate and all. Otherwise, never.

1200 nights .. have never been asked..

Once in Fort Worth, where 90% of the weekly occupancy of the hotel was on a consulting firm rate.

The W in Austin,TX

Ask pretty regularly in Asia for a business card.

Do people use the GDY for personal travel?

General dynamics. Large government contractor who has negotiated government hotel per firm rates with Marriott since they’re a top 5 Marriott spender.

Happened to me once at the Houston marquis. I think the rate was super low and they were sold out for a huge conference with people paying high rates.

I am interesting in applying for a job in the consulting domain that involves a lot of traveling .... something that's pretty common in the United States but I don't many jobs in India which involves every week travel across the country. Can someone let me know of any such role or organisation that has lot of travel options. I am looking for Mon - Thu / Fri travel.

Advise on handling rates negotiations with BIPOC and non-male creators? I always want to accept first bid and get uncomfortable when my bosses push to undercut rates (especially now when money is tight), because there is a whole history of BIPOC and non-male people getting paid less. I’ve tried to push back but struggle to articulate this to them. (For the record, I’m POC female and my bosses are white males, and race/gender convos are already very difficult with them.)
