Do mid size firms have similar advancement schedules as B4 i.e. associate (2 years), senior (3 years), manager (3 years), senior manager?

Some do but most do not! Many have a level in between associate and senior. So if you are a senior transitioning to midsize make sure you are being recruited as a senior and not a super staff

GT does the schedule you described in your post. I was under the impression that B4 did 3 years as associate

I think some do 3 years as associate. At EY we typically do 2 though

RSM does not. I was told 4-6 years as a manager after being told differently during the interview. I left.

We basically do 1.5-2 years at each level: associate, senior associate, senior associate 2, manager, senior manager.

CohnReznick is among the slowest ones Associate 3 years Senior 3 years Manager 4 years Senior Manager 4 years

@EY1 Depends on the office and LoS. The NJ audit department gives raises between 3-7% in non promo years. I got a 13% raise to audit senior 1 as a promo raise.

Marcums is A >Senior 2 years Senior > Supervisor 3 years Supervisor >Manager 2 years ( this is also ceiling w/o cpa) Manager>Senior Manager 3-5 years Not sure for director

This year was 10% Those promoted 11% ...

Crowe is the same as what OP listed: Staff-2 Senior-3 Manager-3 (or 4)

There’s a pretty big range but this year raises we’re really good, double digits for a lot of people

My boyfriend of 3+ years (also a lawyer, we live together), keeps pressuring me to switch to big law even though I have said numerous times that I don’t want to go that route. He keeps trying to push me into it bc I went to a far better undergrad and law school than he did, and I have a solid track record when it comes to interviewing. He works at a large firm and makes nearly double what I do, while I work at a small firm (I still make over six figures). How do I shut down this convo for good?

My (white) manager consistently gives me feedback that I’m “very literal” when doing assignments. She asks for something, I do what her directions say, and she tells me “oh you took that very literally. You’re very literal.” Obviously consulting is subjective and we’ve all had managers give vague directions leading to multiple iterations of work, but at what point do I push back? I’ve also noticed her say this about several black colleagues including clients and the senior mgr on the project.
