We would and we do. We do a ton of storytelling work for technology, new economy and cultural brands (think Uber, Reddit, Sephora, ESPN, Nike.) It helps to have work in your portfolio that speaks about today's brands or speaks to today's audiences. And it helps to have an interest in how you can use media platforms as part of your creativity (like Reddit hijacking the Super Bowl or Shopify making a film where everything on screen is shop-able.) As other posters say, tailor your portfolio to the role you want.
OP there are traditional creatives at RGA - I don’t know what “group” they’re in but they’re a minority and work on traditional briefs (that have some digital execution but that’s not the specialty of that specific team)
Also AKQA has clusters of them - just depends on the needs/job postings at that moment
Exactly what RGA1 said! We do and we welcome it (ex. we split many creatives between “stories” / campaign work and “systems” / product and experiential), but it’s always great to hear how you may be interested in exploring less traditional solutions, and sharing some thoughts on how some of your traditional work could extend.
At CD level I suspect they would. But at a place like R/GA you need to know how to map a consumer journey across digital touchpoints as it’s more product centric than it is communications centric. A basic product management course could help with that.
I plan to move to a place like that later in my career

Thanks for the thoughtful reply! Any leads on such a course?
I worked at RGA and didn’t have any digital stuff in my book. All traditional.
Like Creative 1 said, you likely get more grace based on where you worked and/or seniority. However I’d recommend the age-old advice of tailor your book to where you want to work.
I’m currently in digital and interviewed at a creative shop. I had one web design for a big fast food chain to show my more recent work. The CD told me to remove it if my goal was to work at a creative agency.
I expect it works the same if you’re a conceptual creative wanting to get into digital.
Yeah I was recently hired FT there and my book skews way more traditional than digital
