Post MBA associate at mck. I got an offer to join a MM fund with ~$2bn as an associate with a path to VP if performing well. Comp is similar to what I am making although higher % is bonus Vs salary. Not sure whether I should take it. Very interested in PE but doing well at mck and have a lot of momentum. Not sure how i feel starting as an associate again at same level as younger ppl who are way less pedigreed and have less experience.

Has anyone ever taken leave to complete the cpa exam? I’m struggling and just feel like I’m drowning with everything tbh. Have failed many times (high 60s) and even had a section expire. Expectations for my work performance are very high and I have neglected studying because of that (my own fault, I know, but unintentional). It’s really starting to weigh heavy on my mind but I don’t wanna quit. How long was your leave, how did you schedule your studying during that, any other advice? Cont…
Always dreamt of going to an M7 for an MBA but backed out since I had no long term career goals that required an MBA. Most of my cohorts have been announcing their MBA acceptances and I can’t help but feel like I’ve given up on myself. Anyone ever dealt with this feeling?

Anyone take courses/get a degree from Harvard Extension School? Experience? Was it worth it? Are you also able to build a network? Realize it’s not like an MBA, but that doesn’t fit my life now .
Good morning everyone, any advice on how to pivot from a career in Accoutning to Project Management? Posting on my wife’s behalf - We recently moved to the US and she is currently looking for a good role in HR consulting. She has previously worked with KPMG, McKinsey, Korn Ferry and WTW in Talent and Org. consulting practices in India for about 12 years. She also recently cleared her SPHR certification. It will be a great help if anyone can refer or aware of any job openings in NYC area. Thanks!
I’m struggling to see the value of a MBA as a consultant. If you come back to consulting, you lose career progression. You can’t really go to PE/VC from MBA with a consulting background only. A MBA will not help you get any job in tech any more than your consulting experience would. Same with industry jobs. What’s the value other than a free 2 year party/networking session assuming you return to your firm?
@MBB folks: Engagement manager at OW (US) with no MBA. I am considering shifting to MBB and moving to SoCal (ideally LA). Could a move like that work or need an MBA?

Can anyone DM me the case material you received for your case interview for FDD position? Curious to know what they look like.
If you miss a zoom meeting your bosses are on as well as other attorneys because you overslept where you were supposed to share some updates on cases you are working on as part of the conversation, do you apologize and tell them you missed your alarm OR make something up (white lie) of something that came up that you had to deal with?
Has anyone worked in the Deloitte ARA SOX practice in California or on the west coast? I’m currently an audit senior and interested in knowing the work hours, culture, challenges, etc. thanks!

The Big 4 as “household items”...but who is who?
I finally found a job after being jobless for 2 months! It’s a 6 to 12 month contract and I can start immediately. I know I should be super happy but a part of me is not super excited about this. It’s a level under what I’m used to and from my chat with them it’s not a very strategic/creative role, more doing transcreational stuff. I’m however used to being super involved in all the strat and concepting etc and I’m kinda scared I’ll lose touch with everything I’ve learned so far, esp the strat!
I have a $60k sign on bonus coming in, after tax around $42k. I’ve never had this amount of money before and want to spend it wisely and maybe invest… what would you recommend? I was thinking of buying a home but the buying market is so bad right now in my city (Dallas, TX)… any and all recommendations welcome!
Most important things to do in London? Traveling there for a quick vacation (5-6 days) and don’t want to overwhelm myself or try to do too much. Would be good to have the must see or must do from you brainy consultants. 🧐
Serious question. I constantly see income reports published that indicate only ~5% of the US population make over $250k, ~1% over $500k, etc. Is this actual W2 reported income? Do corporations have ways to compensate individuals so that their total comp does NOT show on their W2 (RSUs, Deferred Compensation, etc.)? Reason I ask is because I see great wealth all around me. I feel like these reports do not always tell the whole story in terms of TC & investment income.
Interesting. Let’s see if the uptick In cases continues to drive an uptick in hospitalizations and then in fatalities. Depends on how many of the cases are incidental or in very young people not prone to severe cases. But either way, look at the hospital capacity utilization figures! This is the untold story. Were we bending the curve to avoid unnecessary deaths due to overcrowded hospitals, or were we bending the curve to buy time for treatments and vaccine, or just to slow fatalities?
Hi Fishes, I have two years of MR experience and looking to switch to consulting roles. MBA from tier 2 college, so MBB isn't an option. Any additional courses I can do to maneuver this path? Suggestions welcome.
Former EY employee here. Joined EY in 2014 and left in 2018 as a senior 3. I believe I was vested in the pension. Just wondering if there’s a way to find out and does EY still offer pension buyout?
