I do not have a degree. I did on the job training and have worked my way up.

I don’t but I’ve worked with paras that have associates, bachelors, masters and even JDs.

I do. In southern CA I think most large firms want you to have a BA and a paralegal certificate.

Agree and same

I do

I do

I don’t think most do, but I do.

I do and the firms I’ve worked for have preferred it but a standout is really the hard worker who gets in and goes for it, degree or not

I do. I think many people with just a Batchelor’s can get amazing work as a paralegal without attaining a certificate, which lowers debt. Every paralegal I’ve worked with has had a Batchelor’s (I’ve worked in corporate law and government). But if you’re smart, and a fast learner, you can do it without a certificate.

I’m in the process of earning mine. But after that, I’m off on my journey for JD

I am about I have my bachelors

I don’t - just certificate.

YOE 8, skill business analysis, had HR discussion with IQViA , current CTC 12.36LPa , HR was mentioning as 16.5 fixd and 18lacs CtC.

I said thats too less, and asked to consider 20lacs fixed , which she did not agree, then reduced to 18lacs fixed and said she will checi with management.

Anybody tried to negotiate with IqViA and got a better offer? Will they come back with better offer?

Additional Posts in Paralegals

For those of you who have been formally given the title of “senior paralegal” what are the qualifications for that title at your firm? Does your firm do promotions from paralegal to senior paralegal? At my firm we are all simply just “paralegal” (we all fully handle our own dockets, no assistants) and I would like to help develop a concrete career track for paralegal to senior paralegal.

I am a legal assistant/paralegal (used interchangeably at my firm) and I am looking for a job. I have been interviewing with multiple companies for multiple months to finally receive an offer for a temp to perm role. I am interviewing with another company that is a permanent position, but won't hear back until sometime next week. I want to wait to see what company 2 has to offer since it is a permanent position - is this right? Also, does anyone have any experience with a temp to perm role?

After a little over five years in Big Law, I was recruited for a boutique firm that promised a collegial culture and work/life balance. Surprise, it’s a sweatshop and the most toxic work environment I’ve ever worked in. Any recommendations for recruiters in NY? Are people generally lateraling or going in house now? Any advice is appreciated, thanks.

I’m looking for advice on finding a new job as a paralegal. I just recently got my paralegal certificate in May 2021 and have been working as a paralegal for a Sole Practitioner since August, but had to make the decision to leave because I’m not making enough money to support myself. I have experience in Plaintiff’s work doing mostly personal injury, but have handled other types of cases, too. I don’t have much experience in this field thus far and would appreciate any advice I can get.

How do you deal with the industry when you live in a small state (with only a handful of firms which practice the area you want to practice in) and in which ‘it’s not about WHAT you know, but WHO you know’?

Currently trying to argue pay rise (whilst looking elsewhere, but constricted because there aren’t a lot of firms where I’m based) when I know someone with the same job role and less experience is getting paid more simply because they know the partner outside of the firm.
