We don’t have caps persay, but some hotels are “out of policy” if they’re too expensive
Some accounts/projects absolutely cap rates.
Ummm I’ve never run up against a cap. Only in policy vs out of policy properties. And when the Ritz is in policy I always book it without issue
>Cap= OOP
If Amex doesn’t flag a hotel as out of policy then just book it, so long as it’s not excessively over the supposed cap. If it were out of policy they should be flagging it as such
No idea on this. I often book outside of my city cap, but it isn’t out of policy on the travel site.
$215 is too low for Nashville, particularly during busy season. Maybe a days inn ;-)
Yeah BAH does that. There’s a way around it for us, I would ask your help desk to see if you guys have one too
Same as ACN. We have some hotels that are out of policy but some can be 400$ a night and still be okay. If the area is not safe/not up to normal standards, you can definitely speak up and request to have the budget increased.
One of our SMA’s got assigned to a T1 city and was provided a 200$ budget. The only hotel he could find was not in the safest side of town. He told leadership to tell the client that if they want him on site, then they would have to change the limits. If not, he aint coming to work 🤷🏼♀️
I’ve only seen in and out of policy on the travel site. But even then, if the hotel I want is out of policy for the week, I call the Amex travel agent number and give a reason why I need to stay in that specific hotel, and they override the system
Downtown Nashville is gonna be expensive these days. Especially in the coming months, with NFL Draft and NHL playoffs coming to town
Wait the cap rates aren’t enforced automatically on the travel site? I’ve never actually looked at the cap rates I just assume it won’t let me book it if it’s out of policy
Indeed it is strange. I assume it should be calling things out of policy if they’re above the rate caps but I’ve seen >$1k/night Fairmonts show up in policy while $200 Courtyards show up out of policy so who knows what logic they’re actually using
In these situations, ask your EM where everyone is staying. Otherwise, get project/client approval and that will help if any questions comes up.
