Do people actually care about the CV? Isn’t the portafolio enough?

Portfolio gets you the job. CV gets you the money. If you worked at more well known award winning shops, generally you will get paid at the upper range for that position. For example, the creative who got laid off from Wieden a few weeks back will be able to name their price if they’ve won awards or were on high profile campaigns. Much harder for someone from a shop like FCB to get the same pay for the same role.

CV shows important things about your work background and qualifications - do you have experience working at an agency, in-house, startup, etc, have you managed small, medium or large teams, have you worked with data scientists, etc. A candidate with an equally strong portfolio as yours could be a lot more/less qualified for a specific job based on their CV.

If you’ve worked at well-known agencies, it tells the hiring manager that you’ve worked with top agency talent and have learned a lot (hopefully) along the way. If you haven’t, your portfolio better knock it out of the ballpark, because your resume isn’t doing you any favors.

Hey Recruiters!
I’ve worked from the creative side to strategy to accounts to client side and have done so all over. I had to take about a year and a half long break for health reasons and am having a hard time having anyone even look at my resume. Are there ways I can show recruiters that I’m interested in settling down and building a true foundation at one company? Or is there a program (not requiring a bachelors) that can be taken to increase my network and likelihood of landing a position?

My AD coworker (not currently my partner) just got hired at a new agency and wants to bring me along as his writer. I'd love to join. He told the recruiter at that agency about me and sent my book. I also have another former coworker (creative) who put in a good word for me.

Should I reach out to the recruiter, too? Or is that overkill after two recos? I don't want to be bothersome. But I do want to show interest..

This all happened on Friday, if that matters. Thanks!

I got a verbal offer from a WPP agency today. The role's budgeted salary is 5k less than my desired salary.
The recruiter can get me closer but still not at my desired salary. Otherwise - it would have to go through a long approval process with no guarantee that the salary would even be OK'd.
I'm coming from a small agency, so I could be wrong - but I don't want to sell myself short by accepting the first salary they offer. Do I have any room to negotiate? Or is that risky?
