The Big 4 are a stepping stone for most of us. The more you realize it the less painful it becomes.
Truly dependent on the team. One engagement, any issue is a fire drill, the other is relaxed and fun.
After sending this earlier today the relaxed team has made everything a fire drill so count your blessings
Honestly I find big 4 consulting pretty relaxed vs other jobs I've had - especially after year 1.
So long as I bill a client 40hrs a week (even if its only 25 hrs of work), deliver on projects, help teammates, and don't act like a tool everyone at the firm is happy. I have tonnes of day to day flexibility now (especially with covid)
I liked working at PwC but my career was kinda stuck, went to EY for a year and left but the pay bump was nice. Find a job you like and stick with it then move on. Loyalty doesn’t get you anywhere anymore and I don’t think they give out gold watches either after 30 years.
Join for the pay then keep looking after 1 or 2 years
Completely agree with EY 2 & PwC 1 - I’ve been at PwC UK for a few years now and still really enjoy working here- the projects are interesting, the culture/teams are fun, flexible, & friendly, and the working hours aren’t at all bad.
If I moved elsewhere within the next 5 years, then it’d likely be to another Big 4 or MBB, and likely to accelerate career development/ better salary
