What does prestige mean to you? Would you rather boast the company you work for versus what you contribute to the firm? There are so many contributing factors to prestige that I bet it’s different for everyone. Best to know what you think is prestigious :)
In that regard, the admission people definitely value mbb over faang but the best outside of the legacy/ family business is the founding member of a successful startup story. It’s simply due to the numbers game they play and the network business school want to build
Faang is vastly overrated on this site. 2 years of Ib or consulting (even Big4) will set you up with the classical training that will be recognized throughout your career going forward. You’ll always be known as the banker or strategy consultant. Not sure I feel that way about an in-stock manager at Amazon, supply demand manager at Apple, or Account exec at google.(most common post MBA jobs from my b-school peers at a t-10) I certainly would be more worried about the transferability of my skillset for my next move
How were the mbb people compared to tech or kpmg?
Tech pays way more than any of the consulting firms, including MBB - and the exit ops show it. Startups, I can’t speak to as well.
M1 - MBA grads usually start at L4 or L5. L4 promotions happen after about 2 years of working at G provided you get some good performance reviews.
my next move is FAANG or start up. I was industry, currently doing the consulting gig,but working in an entrepreneurial environment would be a nice pivot.
Emerging successful start ups pay the highest, even more than FANG (minus Netflix).
I worked in Bay Area and experienced working for a top tier tech firm first hand. People have to realize how far their 200-250K salaries are going to go in Bay Area. It’s really expensive out there. Unless you’re a super star programmer, you need to really think it through before making a move chasing big bucks
@D1 lol his current job with a startup has more upside... good problem to have
If you are a tech person, go FAANG. Period
(Cont...) get some sense on people’s thoughts.
Lol doesn't allbirds sell those poor quality Chinese shoes on instagram? How is that a startup in the same league as airbnb
Sure? Still not allbirds?
I don’t think those r startups. Too well known but I could be wrong
