Do people often greatly exaggerate the truth on their LinkedIns? A few colleagues of mine have pretty embellished profiles. Not sure if this is common...

Anyone’s partner do something that was blatantly against firm policy and asked you to go along with it?

So I’m feeling very upset. I’m very sensitive to feeling like a social outcast or that people don’t like me... and I feel like a colleague I work with is eithermaking jabs at me/or somehow resents me.

A company didn’t follow through with a scheduled intro phone call. I emailed during the time scheduled to see if something had come up & after as well to reschedule. No one answered me or followed up. I can’t help but feel like this is a little red flag. If you can’t follow though on an intro call… what’s your HR & the rest of the company doing? 😬

Was chatting with a CD at my agency and he mentioned that it’s harder for a middle age white guys like him to get a good job right now because agencies are hiring more woman and POC CDs. God that was uncomfortable. People are so not self-aware. Saying that to a minority. Really?? I bet it’s still easier for white men to get more offers than me. 🤦‍♂️

A large number of Finance partners joined my firm about as year ago from a less regarded firm known for its terrible, low-brow culture. In the group of joiners, there is one female partner who is incredibly rude, crass and disrespectful on a level I have never seen before. What should I do to avoid being staffed on deals with her? Multiple associates the firm wanted to keep have bailed on our firm almost entirely because of her conduct. TYIA.

On my end of year self assessment I feel awkward speaking very well of my self.

I hate when you ask senior associates a question regarding an assignment they’ve assigned and you receive attitude-reply to the email vaguely without even addressing the email (example: “just complete the assigned, don’t worry about that”). Especially when the question/issue being ask is an important part of the assignment. It almost feels like I’m a bother for asking even though the associate(when assigning) said “feel free to ask any questions you may have while working on the assigned tasks”

How do I get a new hire to stop saying “um”, “like" & “you know”?

I had a disbarred attroney interview for a assistant position. The conduct was effectively she had emotional issues, abandoned her clients and then was disbarred.

She seems as if she got the help she needs and can move on productively. The pros are she can effectively do everything I do and she is cheep. (For obvious reasons).

I was working at a Hotel one night & I saw a man appearing on two different floors, then in the stairwell. The man was in his 70’s or 80’s. He was wearing nothing but tidy whiteys. When he got to the front desk I asked “is everything alright? Are you okay?” (Assuming he may be senile),He wasn’t senile, he went swimming & wanted to make me uncomfortable and started to flirt while in his sopping wet see through tidy whiteys- and of course I had to clean up the water he tracked through the lobby.

I am a substitute teacher. I was a social worker in a previous Ife. After 8 years I have discovered that substitute teaching is perfect for me and I love it. How long from verbal to written offer? Been over a week for me. Despite assurances from hiring manager all approvals are complete - for some reason the written offer keeps on getting delayed. This is a large company (non tech) and I’m just getting worried seeing how the the economy is going and all these people getting canned/hiring freezes…

Why are so many roles on LinkedIn months old? I keep seeing roles that have been up for 3-5+ months and have over 200 applicants… surely they’ve hired by now??

Got the following offers on the table:

1. Big 4 - Manager, $180k + $20k sign on, told a good expectation is 12-15% bonus next year. 1.5% 401k match and 3% pension contribution. First year cash would be around $225k
2. New, well funded advisory arm of an established business - Engagement manager, $210k, 20-25% bonus. 2.5% 401k match. First year cash closer to $250k

Big 4 is a defined path with history, reputation, and exits. Other place is largely unknown but a lot of comp.
