Do private consulting firms like MBB have a mandatory retirement age for partners? Why? Do they get pension?

If you’ve been in Consulting that long you’ve probably gone mad. That’s why I’ve always thought they kick people out.

Yes there’s mandatory retirement. Yes pension. Why? Cus otherwise the pyramid scheme falls apart

like

No mandatory retirement age but senior folks are paid to transition their relationships and move on at some point. Pension is more about tax optimization than retirement.

uplifting

my impression was they tried to enact a mandatory retirement age here but were rebuffed due to a few very influential (older) partners but I could be wrong

No pension. 401k and a profit sharing retirement fund, which is another defined contribution plan

We don’t have a mandatory retirement age, though a lot of older partners do kind of a ‘part time partner emeritus’ kind of thing.

So pension scam on backs of poor staff only in B4?

Pension is the only reason to make partner....

Is it a very sizable benefit ?

Big 4 pension is significant.

After 3 years of dealing with the worst firm I've ever had the displeasure of working for, I finally landed my dream gig at a small specialty firm. The people at the new firm are all SMEs featured in and contributors to the most notable business publications in the world, less than 100 employees, better benefits, unlimimted PTO, doubled my pay and landed a senior role.

Keep looking for what you want and deserve. I'm happy to be forging a better path away from what I've had to endure.

Hi all,
I have been a practicing DPT (doctor of physical therapy) for 9 years and am a certified orthopedic specialist. I'm hoping that some of you may have suggestions of roles or positions to pursue? Thank you!

Currently I work for a mid-sized InsureTech that’s had 2 rounds of layoffs in the past 6 months. Salary is 100k, with no defined bonus. I have close to 4 years of PO experience. I am debating whether I want to leave since my boss is very chill and I have amazing WLB. Benefits are eh. 15 PTO days and healthcare premiums are okay. Should I jump ship? What could I be making at a bigger company? What types of companies are most stable right now?

Is it okay that I’ve been a slow junior as we’re hours away from closing? I’m trying to be proactive and available to cross things off the list but I’m SLOW: takes me long enough that they do it themselves (even though this wasn’t an issue earlier in the deal) and even on quick tasks or emails, they respond to it before I can click send. There’s also so much about closing that I don’t understand and I feel like I’m bothering the higher-ups on the team whenever I ask. *end anxiety post*
