I got a terrifying mail from the government stating that I owed $2000 which they overpaid during covid. This week was my vacation and was already questioning how I overspent and to top it all off, this dreadful mail! How unlucky could a person be? Construction costs / inflation / Costa Rica: I am considering buying land & building a short-term vacation rental villa in Costa Rica. Sole goal is to get a 10%+ ROI (going there for holidays as extra perk). All is looking good and I have good planning/advisors, but the only thing that freaks me out is the construction costs increase we are seeing (+15-30%). It kills me that timing is going against me. Would you pause such venture and wait to see how things evolve, or move on to not waste time?

I have a serious question regarding this because time is running out. I quit my job last year on Nov 5. I had about two weeks of PTO accrued and I wasn’t paid out my PTO. It was nowhere on company policy other than I was told “it’s known we don’t pay out PTO when someone quits”. Could I file a law suit to get me paid for those accrued hours?
