Do they decorate for the holidays where you work? I work at a pretty large hospital and they do the eaves and the trees outside, but I'm thinking of making some paper snowflakes and maybe getting a mini tree for the nurses station. Good idea? I don't want to offend anyone just thought it could bring some holiday cheer as corny as that is.

Hate that this is even potentially divisive. Why not satisfy all parties and decorate for every holiday so people feel represented? Makes sense to me.

GO for it! Arts and crafts are fun, and if you're really worried, you can talk to your colleagues to make sure everyone is on board with the decor.

At my hospital system there are many safety regulations. Flammable materials etc.

I’ve seen staff make “Christmas trees” with blown up gloves! Hah!

I wish! No one decorates where I work. I put little christmas lights around my door but that's it. I'd love to see a tree or snowflakes or anything christmassy but I do understand they're trying to not alienate anyone.

Yes we do! Its all out festival cheer here now. We have mini trees in every nurses station! I think that makes it so fun.

We have a departmental Christmas Decoration competition where I'm working. Of course everything is well-thought of. Decorations should be made out of medical paraphernalia and everything should not cause inconvenience to the department. I'm planning to decorate the tree with clean vials that connect to each bulb of the Christmas lights.

I think the management is planning to fund each department with christmas decorations. I sure hope this pushes through. I'll be on duty on Christmas Eve so it's the least they can do for everyone present on that day.

Yes! We do it annually. At this point it has become our little tradition. Go for it! A little decor won't hurt anybody.

Yes we do! We even went as far as making a competition out of it between wards and departments. The gimmick is, we're only allowed to use equipment we can find around the ward without having to spend money for the decorations. The winners get to have a free feast during the Christmas party!

We aren’t allowed. They say it’s an infection control thing and may offend patients. Sad.

Yep, we have a nice Christmas tree in our office and I love it. love seeing what hospitals are doing, I like seeing the festive spirit :)

I'm assuming I'm not the only one about to go into their busiest season. How do you manage the craziness of the holiday season for your small business? I'm hiring seasonal staff for Nov-Feb.

I’m 17 weeks pregnant and started a new job this summer- leading a very large team who’ve been without a leader for months. My boss is well aware but the team doesn’t know. I’m showing now and after a few weeks of holiday I’m gonna be showing enough to have to say something. (For context: Heavy male team, 6 months mat leave policy) I don’t want their reaction to be negative but it does suck to lose two leaders -even if only temp- in one year. Looking for advice on how to word my announcement?

I work for a Fortune 500 company, publicly traded. It has no maternity leave, 6 holidays. No sick days (must use PTO). Total of 15 PTO. No summer hours. Is this the worst benefit you see out there? (I also want to add that we are required to go back to the office now even with Covid number increasing)

Are there any fun holiday pop-up bars this weekend? I would love a reason to wear my ugly sweater!!

I know I might get blasted for this on here which is ok. How bad is it that I'm considering using my PTO to extend my Christmas time off? We're supposed to be back in class on the 4th, but I'm considering taking the 4th-14th off as well just as a treat. Obviously this will put some stress of my substitute, and potentially mess up my post-holiday lesson plans, but I'm so exhausted and haven't used any other PTO this year. Would you do it, or no?

I am so beyond ready to leave my current job, but can’t yet, since bonuses are paid out in January. 😬

In the meantime, I’ve applied to a lot of similar roles (slightly higher) but have not heard - good or bad - from any. Is it common for companies to slow down hiring in December because of Q4 rush, people on holiday, etc.?

Can anyone who works close to billing speak to the rationale behind why vacation days aren’t billed 8.0 per day, and why they don’t count toward an associate’s billable hours?

What’s your company’s mat leave? If I calculate my mat leave, including stat pay from the gov, I’m looking at the first 6months fully paid with the rest of my time off unpaid. Is this on par with other firms? Can we make this better?

Will base jump from 120 - 145 make a significant difference in my saving? Offer has significantly less PTO and a lower 401k match. 32F with 400k saved, interested in buying a home soon in HCOL.

Does Kearney payout the unused vacation at the end of the employment?

Question about PTO - my contract says 25 days but is this inclusive of any office shutdown over Christmas/New years (if there is one?). In Sydney office if that provides some context. Thanks!

Hello, I am a new grad with a doctorate in OT. I just got an offer for a job working at a private school. The offer is 58K with benefits. 15 days PTO. Do you guys think I can negotiate the salary to 70K, which based on my research is the average pay for my level of experience and education? Or is that too much to ask?

Do you guys sometimes think you’re not living life right? Like you’re some type of robot. I think the 40 hour work week + PTO constraints is a bit much.

I'm a retail employee, and I've noticed that a lot of my colleagues are really stressed out. They're often working long hours, and they don't feel like they can take time off when they need it. I'm worried about my own mental health. Is this what all retail is like?

Hey managers and above - do you get to take all of your vacation time? Does vacation still kill utilization? And do you get to be actually off on your days off, or is it just working from some place nicer?

What is your title and how much vacation do you get?

Does Deloitte have an extra holiday for labor day? Or is it just that monday off?
