Any program of recovery that excludes physical activity is likely to be incomplete. Just make sure not to overdo it (as we addicts are prone to do, haha).
Omg this was me! I’ve been addicted to running and took it to an unhealthy level running “through” injuries thinking I was tough but just did permanent damage to my back.
Great advice to not use running as a “healthy” addiction. There is no such thing
Me! I started running while quitting smoking at a few years sober. It’s been a complete game changer. Couldn’t run around the block to ultra marathoner. Many of my closest friends are runners in recovery.

Same, except the Ultra. I crew for Ultras, Pace, and love that community. Just love being able to be out there. Thanks for sharing your story. It’s inspiring.
Runner right here. Did 10K today. My therapist at rehab was “concerned” that I was addicted to running because I’d wake up at 5:30 and run laps. I just didn’t want to get fat on institutional chicken 3X a day!
