Pre-releasing Super Bowl ads is one of the cringiest, most self-indulgent changes to the industry.
Couldn't agree more.
I’m only watching for Bad Bunny 🔥

There’s ads??? I’m just here for the Sam Darnold redemption arc

No one *needs* to watch for the ads when the ads are readily available beforehand. But I don’t think many people outside the industry care to seek them out, so the ads are still a draw for them.
Although i’m not one to watch for the ads, my 80 year old mom (who is a huge football fan) has, year-after-year, text’d me during the game about the ads she likes. So if nothing else - it’s been a good memory for me just to connect to my mom - who finally knows what I actually do for a living. Ummmm…no i’ve never done a Super Bowl ad, but i’ll continue to let family assume i’m “that” cool.
God please say no.
They only pre-release them now because of VW’s The Force Commercial “leaked” pre Superbowl back in 2011. Instead of people getting fired, in turned out to be the greatest thing since sliced bread for VW and then the industry in general. And ever since then, every brand and their mother have “leaked” and now just straight up pre-released their Superbowl spots
Only if you care about great ideas/craft vs bad ones.
I like watching them with friends outside the industry to see their reactions
