Does your company not look at total comp at the start of each year?
Yearly total comp. Includes each year of vested RSUs. Invested RSUs are immaterial
You might be able to get them to match say a quarterly vest in a signing bonus if they for some reason really want you to start ASAP and your staring down a vesting date

Not exactly the same but years ago I was under a retention bonus structure after an acquisition. I would get $x if I stayed for certain periods of time. When I was leaving, I got my new company to give me a sign on bonus the equivalent of the retention bonus I was giving up (plus some and a salary bump). So, yes, you can negotiate on future earnings.
