I don't, I pay attention to cut/ color/ quality over labels

Same!! Some of the best dressed people don't have any 'labels' on them, but the way their clothes are cut and fall on them, makes them look great

I pay attention to quality, how they accessorize, fit of their clothes, etc. and am very unimpressed by large designer logos, and the bigger the logo the worse it is. There are exceptions to this for me that come with the brand. For instance, I wouldn’t judge it as harshly if it was Dior or Chanel because it’s not as in your face but as some said above - Gucci, balenciaga, YSL….Too much.

I will also say, I super admire when someone is wearing designer but there’s no logo. I try to do this myself.

Tbh i notice everything.. Im not judging I just see it all

I notice labels only if they are ostentatious or obvious like Gucci etc mentioned above. I do notice when something is high quality, fits well, is well tailored etc. Personally, I think obvious logos are tacky and I won’t buy anything with a large/obvious logo on it, no matter how much I love the item otherwise. Like, I love the concept/style/material of the LV Neverfull and would have bought in a heartbeat if I could have gotten a plain/non-logo’ed version. Instead I got the YSL leather shopping tote which has a small logo on it. I love the style of the YSL, but think the Neverfull is better material for everyday use.

I wish more expensive brands would make items without obvious branding - I don’t mind paying for quality and style. But my style is understated and not flashy - I don’t want to be a walking advertisement.

This! I agree. I really dislike visible logos!

I notice everything head to toe. I am sure I make subconscious judgments about status and wealth based on it, even though I know it’s not helpful or valid lol.

Clothes, no. purses, yes

No. If I like the style color or pairing I notice. That’s one of my favorite parts of living in NYC, observing fashion Lololol

I will follow up with — it’s sad when YSL, etc are just known for the quilted bag with the big logo. They have so many more fashionable bags. To me, when someone picks “the bag” it tells me they care more about the label than about being fashionable/having refined taste so it’s usually just lands as blah to me.

I notice brands everyone is wearing. Most recently Senreve bags and barbour jackets. A couple of years ago it was Rothys, Gucci belts, and JUC bracelets. I notice this because I don't like wearing the same things as everyone else. I realize this is a bit judgemental. People should wear whatever makes them feel confident.

Nope never

Same. Probably because all I wear is non-branded, generic 🥴

I probably notice if someone ridiculously paid seven thousand dollars for a purse.

Definitely. But I tend to notice more when people are overdoing it with logos.

I’m getting flashbacks to many years ago when the guy I was dating who had a lot of logos in his wardrobe showed up with a Louis Vuitton belt on. The belt buckle was a giant gold LV. It got in the way when we were making out a few hours later. So he stood up, slowly took off the belt rolled it up and put it on my coffee table. We broke up after that. I just thought he was going to care more about his clothes than me.

This guy was OTT. He also had a D&G hat. It just was not my thing.

As a 55 yo woman, I can tell you what really really matters is how other people see you. Oh, yeah, and make sure you are stretching every dollar to buy luxury items to impress all those people. It’s so worth going into debt, or say foregoing essentials as long as you are wearing your Prada shoes, Gucci belt, Hermes scarf and carrying YSL NV. (While wearing Chanel makeup).

Hahaha, obviously kidding. You wear things that make you feel good. Nothing else matters!!

And do you notice if they are carrying/wearing brand name stuff and does it make you see them differently status-wise?

More important than labels to me is fit. Poorly fitting clothes makes me a bit judgy. I don’t mean to be, I just don’t appreciate it at all. LOL.

I notice if they are very obvious. I do judge if they are making it a point. I personally like to wear stuff that’s not too expensive but high quality and try to not make it about the brand but more about the product and me.

I notice it all, lol

My thoughts on a person's status are not affected by their designer bags or clothing. I have seen low income people save their unemployment checks to purchase a designer bag. I have seen millionaires balk at the price of certain items and avoid designer products.

Not at all because it’s none of my business. If It’s off brand, branded or thrift if they are happy so am I!

Are awards still make or break, and do top shops like Rethink, Cossette, FCB etc. only hire creatives from big shops or other top shops? I’ve been in the biz for 6-7 years working at mostly small/mid-size shops & got some good work (so the CDs say), like some fun TV & social for big brands, but I’m finding myself a bit stuck. I know it’s COVID, and no awards + being a WOC probably doesn’t help. Thoughts on hiring process from people who work at these places?
